Fame be a fickle mistress with the sole purpose to make one's life blissful misery and convoluted confusion; beautifully vile as the sea be to those who venture her waters....

Seems to be working perfectly under that definition.

Once again, we run into the same discussion :P

There is a whole topic analyzing this, somewhere in gd most probably. I will say just this:

Fame is what it says it is. Fame helps your popularity. It is mostly true. Cpt Dung for example won first round (this reminds me that we still have not reposted the hall of fame into the new account manager. We will.) He finished 1st.

Fame also makes you a bigger target for attacks. The more fame you have the more money that can be taken from you. I think it would be a great idea if players gained fame for gold plundered and gold derived from ships sold. In that case there would actually be a chance for traders to get back in to this game. If the pirates got famous enough they would have everyone gunning for them thus restoring balance to the game. As it is now more and more players are leaving because a few players with good coordination and tactics are taking all they have worked to gain and have no way, short of purchasing huge quantities of credits, to fight back because the pirates gain no fame from their sales. Thank you Cappy for the wonderful idea.

There already is such a card, all you need is 450 turns and 50+ ships and you can turn 90% of it into cash.

Silly me, I thought public relationships was only to be used on other players. That is why it has piercing ability. Besides, why would I want to earn half my fame back. I would still end up with over 1 mil fame. Unless that is another bug that you guys are taking advantage of... :roll:

I do believe people who sell (plundered) ships should gain some type of fame. Perhaps 50% of gold gained from sold (plundered) ship is turned into fame?
This would not be exploitable, mainly because you're not aloud to intentionally lose a battle, therefore the ships that would give you fame would have to be earned, and taken from another player.
(should this be in another thread? Or does this follow the same idea as the current thread?)

I stand corrected. I was looking for this and did not see it at the time. I was looking at the other card and thinking why would any pirate want at least 1 mil influence. Thank you.

Then you open up the need for complex code that marks whether a ship has been plundered or not then the code to say how much of that gold also produces gold. I know you're trying to do good and come up with good solutions but it's just not necessary. As Capt.D said, you gain fame when taking the ship. Even if this solution isn't "exploitable" because there's another rule blocking you from exploiting it, it doesn't mean people will not break the rules. We shouldn't be giving people another way to break rules in an attempt to double your fame game because you're not satisfied with the fame you got from winning the battle to take the ship(s).

All I want is the pirates to gain more fame than they have gold to cover their ships. Is that too much to ask?
