This is a good idea.

What we want for now, is a short term solution that can work till we can have the full population control feature. That's the only way to forward this complicated issue in little time.

The best solution would be to just create a plague and wipe out half the population, then continue working on the full feature. If the population gets out of control before finished, institute a famine.

It will still not eliminate the lurking problem. We got another solution though that will work out. I will publish it shortly.

there should be no major plague to fix issue, atleast not before system is placed to prevent it happening again. adding hard cap to immigrant and black death voodoo cards, and some system that penalizes port with inflated population should be added before any major plague

Natural Disasters are already part of the game. They could create one on a whim just because.

A temp solution could be that all ports lose 10k for every 1M population (rounded down) at each reset.

Bumping this for an update on progress.

Also to add a comment : the chosen short -term cure was to cut all incomes in half : whilst I can see the justification for those who have caused the issue, it does seem a bit off that every other nation loses out even when they have not pushed the population issue to such extremes. Indeed, it just preserves the imbalance in income between nations who do, or dont, push their pops to the max, such that the logical outcome is for every nation to max their pops, partly to recover lost income, and partly to minimise the income gaps.

Not sure adding another lever to the pop increase machine was the intention behind this entire kerfuffle.
