Would someone like to give a TLDR of plantations?

Every port produces a resource. With plantations, this production is no longer something that happens automagically by the game; production is now passed to the players.

Once you get a construction permission (game fee) and an operating permission (nation/governor owning/controlling the port), you will be able to rent acres (from the nation).
You will need to bring workers with your ships from other ports to start production.
You will have a wide array of choices to make while once plantations exit beta, we will also add interesting events to them.

Yes indeed. We are still working on some final touches and we are revising every part of the code. Once you see a global event of me starting a plantation, then we will be near the release. This can happen anytime from now.
