New Sink Chances ratings

Based on the discussion here:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1823

Here is a suggestion for new sink chances ratings. We want a small discussion period so we can implement this fast.

Code: Select all
1 to 10 Ships: 0% Sink Chance (Ships never lose a level)
11 to 50 Ships: 5% Sink Chance
51 to 100 Ships: 10% Sink Chance
101 to 200 Ships: 25% Sink Chance
201 to 300 Ships: 50% Sink Chance
301 to 400 Ships: 75% Sink Chance
401 to 500 Ships: 90% Sink Chance
501 or more ships: 100% Sink Chance (Ships always lose a level)

Code: Select all
When a ship loses a level, 35% to 55% of its base value returns to the attacker as a plunder earning!

Code: Select all
Piracy technology increases minimum value chance by 1% per level (At level 20, the chance is eliminated and the attacker always receives 55% of the base value)

+1, as more merchants have more ships, this feels like a necessary advancement.

I have edited this post - my original thinking was incorrect.

I deleted it.

I think reducing the ship sink chance is a good idea. I always thought this was a bit too high. With the altered rules, medium sized merchants will lose ships less often, and even more importantly, it becomes easier to try to combine being a merchant and pirate, with both over a hundred ships AND a fleet or two with high danger.

As for the "ship sink plunder", I think that will have a relatively minor impact. I guess that should be discussed in the other thread, though.

This will make it impossible to plunder an entire fleet for the purpose of capture,
The more ships you take from a player the harder it will become to take them.
It would be impossible to reach the top ships in a fleet, which are usually the best ships.

Also most newer players will probably not plundering players with 100's of ships
so this would make the possibility of plunder for captains unlikely also.

William, mind telling me how changing the ship sinking percentage will make it impossible to capture a fleet? all this would do is make it less likely for most people to have their ship lose a level, and if level 1 sink. the only way this makes things harder is sinking a cheap tail, but there is voodoo that can help with that.

getting back on topic, +1 for new sink chances. this will really help a lot of people I think.

+1 but me thinks the 100% chance should be at 500+ ship count not 400. Making sink chance less gives pirates better opertuniy to capture ships of higher value when the merchant runs out of gold as they won't drop lvls so easy.

as always i'll vote -1 and i'll add also that i don't like where this game is going. You keep minimazing the risk of traders the effort they should give. I mean it's ok to advance the game but you should focus on the viriety of choises more than to size of a choise.

also i would like to add that it's a game above everything, that it's about players, not about traders or pay to win members. It might be a job for Cpt. Jack but i believe your choises make veterans stay but also you make it harder for a new comer to join and stay. It's impossible to reach the level of veterans.

What the game needs is plot, and this is something that gets destroyed be stabilize the position of Big traders. Nations should be stable instead. Instead of pirate, noble, trader, the option at the begining could be between trader, pirate, ship builder. I believe an option that you could give and take ships from a player in marina should be created and also a market to buy ships from members with gold instead of credits since credits are not always available at market.
