I am not a native speaker. If the usage is such, we can come with another name. You do not like memorial, for good reason, so we will skip it. But we do not like St.Kart either, so we need to find another name

Kartnary (Kart+annuary)
Kartween, Kartmas, Kaptains Day (K of Kart + the word Captain)...
or Bermuda Day or Day of Bermuda (being Kart the King of Bermuda, but also may remind the notorious Bermuda Triangle)
or simply KartDay (like Birthday)
Kart himself suggested Victory (over Kart) Day - Victory Day
Millennium Captains Day (for having reached, and surpassed indeed, #1000 Captain)

of all these I prefer Kaptains Day, which would be both something known to old players, and something to discover for new ones (I already figure out people asking in Guild discussions "but why day 195 is named Kaptain with the K?" )

That is my favorite as well. Don't really like the negative undertone of "Capitulation" day.

I had no idea Kart was the reason we now must have captains for our ships to be placed in fleets, nice way to get the history out to the less-informed. It makes sense though, I can't imagine what the 1040th captain costs...

I think Kaptains Day is very appropriate. My ego is not so large that it has to have my name on it. The K in Kaptain is quite clever I think and may indeed get those who don't know to ask why. If the name becomes official I am sending Dejanira 1,000,000 for the great idea.
