Ahoy all, time for a new RP. Old ones are on break for now but may continue someday. Rules are as follows.

1. Try to keep things in character. Don't post something unrelated to the RP here. If you don't like this RP, don't complain about it here. Post a new thread or start your own RP thread if you don't like this one. I would actually be quite happy if someone posts a RP of their own so please feel free to do so.
2. You can control your characters actions-You can not control others. NPC's are fair game and anyone can control them, so long as its believable and in character. A guard for example shouldn't just up and decide to shoot an orphan for no reason-that is out of character. Anyone without a name will be considered a NPC, if you name a character but want it to be a NPC then just mention that said character is NPC in quotation marks after a post.
3. You are allowed to have multiple characters- but be reasonable. Don't flood the story with a bunch of your characters. 2 or 3 in one story is fine, anything past that is sort of pushing it unless you are really good at managing them.
4. Use Italics for actions, and try to separate things nice and neat. Also use paragraphs when needed. Quotations if for speaking out of the roleplay.
5. No editing of a post once you post it. The exception is to fix spelling mistakes or minor errors. It can be real annoying when someone posts one thing and another responds to it only to find what they responded too is now completely different.
6-Do not act on knowledge you know but your character doesn't- If for example Character A is being attacked in the tavern, and your character is in the church, you can't have your character suddenly rush to the tavern to help unless you can give a reason WHY he knows what is happening or he is rushing to the tavern.
7-if you have an objection to something, message the person directly first to resolve it.
8-Please do not decide things for other's characters without consulting them first. For example-don't say your character is my character's father, or lover, or anything without asking me first. Same for all folks. It puts them in an awkward spot.
9-Try to have Fun.

Next post begins the story.

In the port of St. Martin, a call is being made for able bodied sailors to head north to trade, explore and possibly help the people in the lands of the north, several large trade ships filled with various goods are preparing to leave, and many merchants are looking for personal escorts not quite trusting eachother. In the local tavern, 2 men named Carl and Brian are managing the papers and leading the recruitment effort as they wait for volunteers to come forth.

There was a strange vessel in harbor, with rumors abound about her. She was built like a large frigate, but was armed like a ship of the line, carrying a hefty 68 guns. She was entirely a deep emerald green, right down to the glass in the windows of the captain's cabin. Under the water lurked a heavy, iron plated ram. And to top things off, an ethereal greenish fog surrounded her. But this was no ghost ship, for the captain and crew were alive and well- though the same couldn't be said for the ship's officers. According to rumors, they were zombies, brought back by a long dead witch doctor named Kalfu.

Carl nods to Brian and quickly fills him in on the strange ship the 2 men exchange a look before shrugging

Well, so long as they be friendly suppose it don't matter none. Keep an eye on them though, just in case. Also send a letter to that old sea hag, see if she knows anything and to be on alert.

As if on cue, a grizzled older man walked into the tavern, clad in fairly nondescript seaman's clothes, though he was clearly a captain- a faded crimson greatcoat and off-white shirt tucked into brown trousers, which were tucked into tall, scuffed black boots. a cutlass hung in a scabbard at his side. He had wild grey hair, shoulder length, which stuck out from under a battered tricorn. Upon his entrance, the raucous celebration in the tavern quieted, and soon the only sound was his boots on the floor as he approached the pair.

Carl looks around confused why everyone went quiet before laughing as he calls around to the bar

Jeez you lot, act like you owe the bugger here money or something.

He turns to the newcomer and smiles before nodding to him

You here to join the expedition, or just get something to drink? I'm Carl and this is Brian.

The man's voice was low and gravelly, with a slight French accent.

"I am Captain Jacques De Silvos, otherwise known as Thunder Jack, of the Emerald Thorn. And yes, I've come to join your expedition.

Brian nods

Sounds good. We'll wait another day or so for more folks to join, before heading north.

And then, a young woman with fiery red hair entered the tavern, heading for Jacques. At least, she appeared to be a young woman. Her skin was a sickly grey, and she was far too thin to be healthy. Her eyes glowed a fiendish orange as well. Jacques turned at her touch on her shoulder, face twisting into a scowl.

"Lane, I told you to stay on the ship! You know how the locals feel about you and the others!"

She shrank back a bit at his thunderous remark, before swallowing and speaking.

"I know, Jack, but they're starting to gather around the ship- with torches and pitchforks... They're yelling "Dreadbolt's fiends aren't welcome here!" and "Go back to your graves, you rotting freaks!" The others thought I should tell you.

Brian shrugs as he heads to the door

Well maybe we should head out now, rather than later. Hopefully no one in the expedition bears any grudges.
