Spain seems to be more secure since Cutpurse became King and joined VUDU for unknown reasons.
Dominica has lost influence and population. Feniks a major citizen caused some disruption first by becoming a pirate and accidentally taking a port with him. The King of Dominica xPROx took it back immediately. A little while later Feniks accidentally took another port by becoming a citizen then King of Djibuti. William One Eye became King of Dominica in order to retake the port.
In other news there has been movement in the King of All Nations - Emperor Achievement
PG has 237 Nations each one can have a King - only 5 are wealthy and have ports
A player becomes King by achieving the rank of Marquess and having the most influence. The King can set laws and use the Treasury unless out voted by other Nation members.
There is little value in becoming King of a Nation without Citizens or Subjects which hasn't stopped players from viewing this as a challenge.
There are 3 players who have been King more than 8 times
1) Clockwork has 26 crowns.
2) Capt Da Vinci has 25 crowns.
3) Tom Lowe has 19 crowns.
Clockwork announced 4 months ago that he intended to become King of All Nations in alphabetical order. This included the port holding Nations. The first of which is Bermuda which will not be able to defend against a strong player
Clockwork overtook DaVinci as the king of the most nations. He was 21 and now 25. Clockwork started from 13 to hit 26 nations with Bahamas.
DaVinci doesn't seem to be that concerned but he does like to be #1
Tom Lowe is also making an effort to stay in the race
We had a chat with Clockwork about his progress

You have completed the A’s and started on the B’s. When are you planning on taking Bermuda the first Nation with a Port ?
Clockwork>
At the moment, I await further nations as the A section of nations was more expensive than I realized. I am regrouping my strategies to accomplish the B's.
JG>
How much will it cost for the B section Kings ?
Clockwork>
With influence alone, I'm looking forward to spending at least 2 billion in gc for the missions. This doesn't include ravages, Fugitive cards, generosity, disfavor, turns, spy networks, attack loses, and retaliations and more.
The most problematic part I have so far, is not hitting the active playerbase for my missions. I have 210+ to go and it's in my best interest not to upset the guys and gals of PG. Ravage and disfavor attacks get expensive. I typically have ravaged inactive players with tons of ships, like Bigtea. Problem is that I want to get the most attacks per ravage, so in order to do that, I don't want to steal the ships, or accidently steal or sink them. I had to pick level 2 and higher ships for him, while also casting generosities after every update.
In the A section, I think I spent a lil over 180 ravages alone.
JG>
What is your current challenge ?
Clockwork>
As i said, I'm currently searching for solid inactives to use so i don't hurt anyone. That would be my best and cheapest bet to achieve my goal as Emperor.
JG>
Thanks and good luck
Many of the port holding Nations are not happy with these activities. A lot of the missions for promotion involve casting Black Death voodoo on various ports. The result of casting BD on a port is that the population will be decreased, and therefore the tax income received by the Treasuries of the port controlling nation drops. This problem is further aggravated by the fact that the port holding nations have to cast expensive Transport Immigrants voodoo, in order to replace the lost population.
Considering that there are about 7 missions required to level up from Citizen to Marquese, and about half of them require at least 3 BD be cast to complete the mission, it can take the casting of approximately 10-12 Black Deaths in order to level up in any given nation. To maintain the populations in their ports, port controlling nations are then obliged to cast an equal number of Transport Immigrants voodoo. Currently, TI cards sell for about 10 credits in the Market. That comes out to approximately 3 Million gold coin per card. Doing the math reveals that this style of play can cost port controlling nations over 30-35 Million gold coin every time a player decides to burn through the missions, become King for a day, only to abdicate the crown a day or two later.
Edward Teach, King of the USA was quoted as saying, “This is a huge cost that our National Treasuries cannot be expected to absorb on a regular basis. We are not in the business of subsidizing this style of play for anyone. Casting Black Death, on any port, has always been considered an act of aggression. These attacks can not be tolerated for long as an ongoing occurrence.”
The Plantations Expansion arrived 3 years ago. It is a complex, challenging but eventually rewarding part of the game.
Early owners found it difficult to develop profitable Plantations. It takes up to 6 months before a Plantation becomes stable and profitable and requires continuous investment to slowly expand.
Fertile Lands Voodoo Cards allow 500 acres to be created virtually for a month and are becoming more expensive.
Lodswe the ex King and now Governor of Spain is one of the leading Plantation owners and the biggest producer. We asked him for his comments
PG>
The amount of real land available for Plantations has nearly doubled due to Port investment.
How have you become the biggest Plantation producer ?
Lodswe>
Yes acres will of course increase slowly but steady as nations develop ports. Apparently not filling the demand yet, at least in some places.
It's a lot easier to make a fortune from plantations than from robbing other players. Trading is the second best alternative I believe.
It's immensely expensive to get a 5 star all over plantation. Probably close to a million gold bars if it's a decently big one.
Thinking about it it might even be more than a million bars. I've been adding 5k/day trying to get ½ a star more in a port for a long time now but still no result.
PG>
Is gold becoming more expensive because of too many plantations and not enough goldsmiths ?
Lodswe>
Goldsmiths are very (too) expensive to develop so many prefer buying I suppose. I didn't go all the way. I buy a lot of gold too, so that might be what keeps the price up in those ports.
PG>
Fertile Lands Voodoo Cards are very expensive at the moment. How has this affected you ?
Lodswe>
I very rarely use any fertiles so I did not notice, I'm well stocked still.
We asked Blue Mustache Duke of Spain who has only been a Pirates Glory player since the end of March how he advanced so quickly
Blue Mustache>
I joined PG a few months back near the beginning of when schools closed and chose the country Bulgaria for my nationality. I was a little disappointed to find out that you do not start out a pirate, but must achieve that through certain means. However that didn't stop me from playing. I must say for a game where you aren't physically playing, this is sure addictive.
I joined a guild called Avonmora Trading Company [ATC]. I never was full in with the guild, but here I am today and I'm still a member. My guildmates have been so nice and so helpful, I'm really thankful.
I have become a part-time fisherman/trader and a part-time pirate hunter for Spain. I have risen to become a duke of Spain (currently running for governor) and am one of the most influential people in Spain due to a mass build up port movement.
