VUDU reunites under the Dominican flag
The more things change the more they stay the same.
For the last 2 years Pirates Glory has had port wars with mainly 4 Nations. The stronger players have spent billions trying to gain or hold ports - smaller Nations have struggled and the larger Nations have been infighting about the cost of the wars Individual players have been prominent in targeting other players and Nations and otherwise disrupting the status quo
Yet after all this often intense action the map looks pretty much the same - a new Nation reborn from the ashes has risen to again stake its claims - another chapter in the port wars begins
We discussed future plans with xPROx, King of Dominica:
Q: As a proven force in Avonmora you have chalked up many a milestone in the Nation building aspect of this game. What would you say are the most important resources and components needed to successfully establish a strong and stable port holding Nation?
A: It takes some time to build up a new nation. I have some plans to modify the Dominican Council to have equal voting power. We will always go with what group votes for and each person will have an equal say. When building a new Nation, it is important to have a great team backing you. You can have a few strong players, but you’re only as strong as your weakest player. That’s why I always want to see my teammates grow stronger. When they can stand on their own, that means I can focus on other matters.
Q: What other strategies have you used to unite players, and rally them under your flag, so that the formation of the Nation is successful?
A: To unite players, and keep the Nation growing, it is important to focus on each other. We try to help one another and learn something from each one of our players. Always treat a noob with the same respect and honor as you would a veteran. And no matter what, don’t give up on each other.
Q: You recently reunited many of the former members of The Brethren Guild, or VUDU for short. What differences in strategy and game play can we expect from the new VUDU Guild?
A: As far as any changes in VUDU game style goes, I guess time will tell. But I do hope the New VUDU brings life back into the game for many players.
William One Eye, Ex King of Hellas gave his perspective:
Hellas was the project of Charles Vane, most of its members were there to help him. But he logged out one day and did not come back Kind hard to run someone elses nation by their standards when they are not around to help.
Not certain if we will have maxed out ports that's not a normal thing. But neither is having them being beaten to nothing. Although just being associated with VUDU members will paint a target on the port population.
Dominica is where I was headed after pirate ports but Vane grabbed me.
My thought was an open nation, not hostile but not overly diplomatic either. Not too many rules, but also does not offer a lot of protection. Run by all members that have put in some effort. But it's going to be up to the group what we decide to do. I don't want another Isle of Man or another St Kitts but I might take some of the better ideas from each and see if we can make something good.
We also heard from Argonaut a much feared pirate:
Silvershadow, Magnus the Red and myself (SIN pirates) have also joined VUDU. It might be very difficult for VUDU to ever gain a fresh start.
Dominica, or any nation, or Guild start up for that matter, ought to be given a chance rather than slapped with haunting cries at the memories of yesterday’s wars and blubbering sobs of ‘VUDU ’ or “uh-oh”. Their rep precedes them.
I have been told VUDU/IoM had a system. It worked without much harm. It was misunderstood at one point and blew out to something not intended. Avonmora was relentless in the decision that VUDU was bad... so eventually they became what everyone said they were...baad..
To quote dr phil..' I don't care how flat you make a pancake...it’s always gonna have 2 sides" … lol
They are all skilled and experienced players .. maybe the detractors were just outplayed… credit where it is due. A new nation stands proudly on the map. Dominica.
From Sir Henry Morgan, King of Tokelau:
As King of one of Avonmora's nations, I have been asked for our viewpoint as to the current political situation in Avonmora - simply put, I believe she be in one of repositioning and stabilizing one's holdings in a quiet phase of growth and profit. While there still be personal disputes between different nations, and within nations, 'tis a quiet time.
Tokelau has shored up her ranks on the council to strengthen her mission in banking and commerce; with the control of one additional port, the potential to enhance her mission.
The USA and Dominica have repositioned and are in a healthy position for growth and economic opportunity. Both are strong in their ranks as well.
Bermuda and Spain be quiet - however, their subjects be active, and when it be quiet, growth and profits come.
Fantasy Draft VII As we discussed in last months edition the eagerly awaited Pirates Glory Fantasy Draft VII was held
Players are encouraged to pledge coin to add to the prize fund or distribute their own prizes - the prize fund this time exceeded 1.5 Billion coin - a new record
5 Captains representing the 5 leading Nations chose teams from the most skilled players with the intention of finding a group that would be expected to outfight the other teams
Unfortunately one of the Captains was unavailable and couldnt be replaced at the start of team selection time so this event only had 4 teams
Each Captain chose players using their own criteria as to who were the best and then posted a summary of why that team had been chosen and why they were the best qualified
The entire community then discussed the qualities on the teams that were selected and voted for the team they preferred
El Draque wrote the most entertaining description of his band of rogues and ended up as the winning team
