I believe it be near a fortnight since I saw the MOW flying the Golden Sail into my port of Baramas. T’was my king and leader of TK, King Morgan come to pay me an unexpected visit. He sent word to meet him at the tavern.
I arrived without haste and inquired to his gracing our port with is presence.
“Tiss time for the battle of the captains”, he said “The seas have spoken, and the nations selected to provide a champion to search for the finest of sailors in all of Avormora”
He paused to empty a pint of ale. “This time” he said as he motioned for another pint, “you Draque, you will bring pride and treasure to the people of Tokalau.”
To think, what an honor to serve, so I asked “How do I start, where do I look? Sire, you have seen many callings..”
Henry stopped me short with swift gesture and said, “Think of what makes our lands great, anyone can pack a fleet of fighters, but is that all that is Avormora? Search your soul, your battle logs and your purse, and after that has given you all the answers, visit with Treviena in Aiora, she now be a courtesan, but she has been known to dabble in the mystic arts, for a fee of coarse”
King Morgan downed another pint and was gone as quick as he arrived.
That night I couldn’t sleep, for the words Henry spoke echoed in my head. What does make a great Captain in these waters? What of a pirate? Well if not for traders, there be little market for pirates. There be warmongers? Well if not for the bankers and markets to finance those wars, there would near be enough swag to wage any war. Whichdoctors, skirmishers, plantation owners, mercenaries and on and on. I needed a plan…
The next day I made a special trip to Aiora to see Henry’s hooker, uhhh, I mean Treviena who offered to guide me for a fee… speed forward through some cards, some animal bones and other things (thats how Draque roles), and I had the answer I was searching for. I would make a team of the best of all disciplines to be found in Avormora: Financial, Trading, Markets, A Nation Maker, Skirmishers, Pirates, Witchdoctors, a fixer and lastly a few new to these waters.
This would make the perfect team.
First Stop - a secluded beach somewhere near (Deleted by request)
Captain Da Vinci – Master of the Trade Lines
I saw him from a far, digging in the sand feverishly with a large Chest of Swag, 10 feet, 8 feet, 6 feet and a cutlass to my joblets. Turns out I stumbled upon yet another burial of Da Vinci’s riches. <<thud>>, he hit another chest he buried, then a move of 10 steps and started to dig, <<thud>> another of his chests. I discussed my charge with the legend himself and helped him bury his chest right next to the… oh im getting off topic. Da Vinci let me know that not only does he control the shipping lanes, he commands the dock workers and also has the shipwrights on his payroll. After some hefty financial convincing, he agreed to sail with me so long as I snagged the Nation Maker before someone else picked him or killed him. I agreed and parted ways…
Captain Da Vinci is the man who owns the sea ways. What do I mean you ask? Ship count record, Da Vinci – Ships Plundered record, Da Vinci - Total Battles Record, Da Vinci – Battle won record, Da Vinci – Battles lost Record, Da Vinci.
Need more proof of Da Vinci’s global foot print, His bank is second only to our Kings, and its rumored that he has more swag buried than he has in banks… and he has billions in banks. With over 80,000 battles in the water protecting his trade routes and over 51m Influence and a direct descendant Poseidon himself… Yeah, I found my trade master and financial Backer.
Next I set sail for a small island between Prote and Psaral to a small hut on an abandoned sugar plantation.
Clockwork – The Nation Maker
He invited me in and poured me some rum and asked politely what I wanted, as I started to speak he pulled a knife to my sack and told me to F off and leave, only to retreat to the back of the shack and eat a fistful of herbs. Gaining his composure, he apologized and showed me the Dragon Eye, the largest Ruby I did see, which he found years ago at the cursed city of Azteka. “With this treasure comes the glory, the curse and the demon trapped inside, these herbs let me control it, but sometimes I do things…bad things.” He said. That is exactly what we need, and he reluctantly agreed to help, warning that some love him, some hate him, and the rest love to hate him!
Clock, PFH, Sahqon, Smog, Natsu, Asshopper and known to some as Suzy, this Captain is arguably one of the best captains Avonmora has ever known. Are there some with better trades? Yes. More Battles? Yes. But those who don’t know what clock can do are destined to repeat the mistakes of those before them. He has single handedly lead the dismantling of some of the most powerful nations in these lands while building others. A consummate which doctor, he is not afraid to battle with anyone at any time, which is why he is so popular with some. With over 15k battles, 1000+ plundered ships, multiple helper awards, and on his way to Emperordom Clockwork agreed to help under two conditions, I had to supply him with a supply of herb(s), and talk to the man who held his markers… The Accountant.
With a long trip ahead of me, passing all 85 USA ports, I finally arrived on the shores of Goroum and headed to the Governor’s Mansion.
The Accountant – Gentleman Financial Alchemist
I walked into the Governor’s Mansion and, well it looked like mine. The servants, the food, the rum, the scantily clad feminine guys painted gold posing as statues… ok I don’t have those, YET!!!!. But I digress. The Accountant met me in the atrium for an aperitif, samples of Belgian Chocolate and a hand rolled cigar all that I would expect from such a Gentlemen of his stature. We discussed the possible financial ramifications of winning and losing this year’s Draft. Sadly he wasn’t interested, as duties of State were great.
As he showed me to the door, I informed him of the 1bill + prize pool and almost by instinct he turned me around and led me to what I would call the dungeon.
There were giant chalkboards with all the ships and voodoo for sale and their costs, A library full of ledgers of all those who owed him money, and about 20 naked women washing his swag. I asked about the need for nudity, he said no were no hide, nothing gets stole. There was one door for which sketchy people kept coming and going, every time getting a stamp as they left. “What is that room” I asked. With a dragoon to my neck he said “Those are Mercs, we don’t talk about that room”. I understood, those Mercs are not to be messed with! After some negotiations and a large piece of the winnings, he agreed to join the team.
The Accountant is a formidable fighter with over 25k battles won and over 1000 ships plundered and is one of the best in Avonmora. He also has a top helper award and has reached fame of over 109mil. That alone would be enough to warrant him as a solid selection, but he has a set of skills that most in these parts don’t. He knows the markets. He knows what the pricing should be, what it can be and is one of the very few I know that can set the Market. Coin, Ships, and Voodoo… He does it all, and if you ever have the chance to be on the sending end of his voodoo volley plans, he can calculate the voodoo needed and near exact effect on people and ports alike in lightning fast times.
As I headed back to the docks, I noticed a familiar sight. In my travels, no matter which port I visit, I always see crates with a Spanish Flag and the Initials CP branded into the box. This can only mean one thing…
Cutpurse – Industry Baron
Off to Chalkos I sailed in search of the governor of the port, the infamous CP or Cutpurse to the layman. I arrived several days later to a busy port with statues of Cutpurse, next to crates of goods belonging to Cutpurse whilst the workers sang songs of tribute to Cutpurse. I asked the harbor master where I could find Cutpurse and he informed me that he is everywhere. At that time I heard “He is right of course, I am everywhere!”. “I know, I said, that’s why I am here”. He invited me for a drink by the docks and we talked. He informed me of his plan to take over the means of production. He has a planation in every port, not necessarily the biggest as not to draw attention, but one of the biggest. HE produces enough of every good to affect global supply chains at his pleasure and run every port out of product one by one add that to his fleets and fighting prowess, it was clear I needed him on my team. This is a very handy ability and one that will surely cost me.
After about 6 drinks, those I found myself singing those same Cutpurse sea chanties, and that is when he wanted to talk shop. He explained he was a busy man, for too busy for the selection, I reminded him of past favor where I (Deleted) during the (Deleted), and finally got the donkey off his (deleted a lot) and got him home safely. But he still would budge. When I told him Feniks was also selected, as if brought back to the great IoM - Spanish war, he stood up and vowed to do what was needed. I had my Industry man!
Cutpurse is known for being fierce at battle and Voodoo and has brushed swords with most in the game. But what really drew me to him as a sound pick is he is one of the very few with the 21 Plantation achievement. This allows the team to affect the supply of goods in every port. Add that to our total team plantations and we can control the means of production for all of Avonmora.
As the sun rose over the Spanish Coast, it was time to head back to Baramas to plan my next move. As we broke harbor I received word that my one of my fleets in every port had been attacked and stripped of all their goods. The only good news, I had a Cutter in chase of the pirate, so with a splitting headache I followed suit.
Silver Shadow – The King of all Pirates
We followed the offending ship to a strange man made atoll comprised of the wreckage of other nation’s ships. And then it was gone. The ship we had followed so far had vanished, but sadly was replaced with 10 other heavily armed warships hoisting the Jolly Rodger. Canons roared across our bow, and the order was given to lower our sails and request a parley.
The decks were quickly overrun with pirates, and I mean the real ugly pirates you read about, not as ugly as Dman, they do have standards, but ugly enough with three of them tying me to the main mast. I overheard one of them say they were snugging me up for my meeting with shadow. Could this be Silver Shadow that has wreaked havoc on my fleets for so many years? To this point I had heard many a tail of his stature, his stealth like prowess and his charm with the maidens, even though I was very uncomfortable, I was eagerly awaighting his arrival.
He was a bald portly man in a puffy shirt. Not at all what I pictured, with a high pitch crackling voice. I took two shots to the stomach from his mates after I cracked a smile while he spoke. He informed me that he had heard of my mission, and wanted a fortune to let me continue, I told him that wasn’t an option. He threatened to kill one of my officers every minute till I complied. I stood firm, and the screams, the blood curdling screams behind me were almost unbearable, then the sound of laughter. As one of the men who tied me up walked up to me, ordered “Shadow” to stand down and cut me loose.
I looked around, my men were fine, although my cargo was being lifted. “I see you heard my call, sorry for the ships mate, but a mans gotta live” he said. “ I had to test your resolve, my name is Silver Shadow and I have a proposition… I will join this, whatever it is, and you let me take a piece of the bounty and of xPro if we have the chance, seems the young captian has been cutting into me profits, savy!” I agreed to the terms, and inquired about all the good he de-fleeted. “Lets call it a down payment for safe passage from my palace.” He Said.
Silver Shadow is the number one rated pirate in all of Avormora on the ranking boards with 20,000 skirmish wins and 15,000 battles, he truly is the King of all Pirates.
With our sail raised once more, we finally made port in Baramas and to my Governor’s Mansion. Sitting on my balcony drinking my best run was a salty ol Spaniard, no wait, Canadian.
Stan Rogers - The Professor
“Good day to ya Draque” he said as he poured me a drink. “I hear you are looking to complete a task for Henry.” “Ey sir”, I said, “where did you hear that?” “From Henry of course, after a night of rum, we spoke as he tried to introduce me to some hooker in Aiora” he laughed as he shook his head. “He does tend to like that maiden” and we both laughed. And on we talked.
“So tell me about your selection thus far …. And what of trade… hired guns…” Minutes turned to hours as every angle of my selection was combed through like an inactive’s fleets. He told me the tales of drafts past, gave me ideas on future picks, strategy, and he even managed to calm me down about all the products Silver Shadow “relieved” me of. Everything he said seemed to make sense, every time he spoke I felt more assured of our victory… and then it hit me, I need Stan on my ship. His experience has far more value that some young guns with MoW’s.
“Will you come with me old friend?” I asked. “I owe you one Draque, I never forgot… and the goat… then you stopped me from… and you found my pants for me, and I will never forget that.” It happened when he was a Spaniard, sooo… yeah. What is up with these Spaniards?
Stan Rogers is patience and strategy incarnate. Plantaions… he has 14, Top Helper awards, designer wards, ruler of multiple nations and years of experience backing every play he makes. It was also under his leadership that Spain was able to not only stave the wolves, but also win in the largest most costly war I have ever seen in these waters. He plays the long game and plays to win!
Finally I was off to my bed chamber, when I was met once again to a dagger to the goodies. “Oh come on! Now what?” I Whined “Hello Draque” She whispered from behind my right ear. “Anne? Is that you”? I asked. “Who else” she said, “well first off, can you remove the dagger, and second its dark… how do I know its you?” In that instant every fleet I Owned was lit up! “Ok its you!” I said.
Anne_Bonny – Raid Queen of Avonmora
I lit some candles and poured us each a drink. “So what brings you here Anne, again, for the 10th time?” I asked smirking. “Well first” she said, “You are the man that every man wants to be, and every woman wants to be with….” Or atleast that’s what I thought she would say, but instead “I hear your making a run for the draft”. “You heard right” I says. “Got room for one more, for old time sake?”. “What of Feniks, aren’t you in the same guild?” I asked, “yeah, but he gets so morose and lately he has been going off yelling “its 5 not 4” and going on and on about Coke vrs. Pepsi, I cant take it. Besides, you need me!”
She was right, she is one of the best raiders I have ever seen both from our days working contracts together and from feeling the cast of her spite first hand. “Anne, I would be honored to have you by my side”. She looked at me, “We are both here right now, I know the perfect way to seal the deal” I thought she would say, but…wrong again… “Awesome, I will start doing my recon on some easy prey to get our coffers ready to compete, I will meet you on Sunday for the final vote..Mercs Rule!” And she was gone…but man, she is the perfect person to have for raiding and pillaging. Luck be on our side.
Anne_Bonny truly is the Queen of the Raid. With over 25,000 battles she is a powerful adversary as well as being one of the few who have earned 1000+ plundered ships milestone. Anne is relentless when she has a target in her sights and has successfully raided most of active players in the game.
The next day a letter arrived by currier with the red wax Cala Seal. Always a pleasure to hear from Caladan, I opened without haste a read. “My Dearest Draque, its my understanding you are selecting crew for the draft. I must say that Im quite shocked that..” and voice starts filling the space behind me “you have waiting so long to bring me in.” “Cala, great to see you!” I exclaimed.
Caladan – Millwright of the Mercenary’s
“How you been my friend?”, I inquired. “Can you believe some schmuck is paying 78 credits for this crappy voodoo?” He claimed, “Yeah doing pretty good. Looks like you have need for a person of my particular skills.” He said with a smirk. “I do in deed. I had to ensure I locked those who would be the canvas in which you can paint your master pieces. You want ports, we control them, you want fleets, we can raid them, battle them, plunder them. You want to shut down goods and markets, we have that too”. “Impressive work Draque I heard Anne is with us, did she tell you you’re a man among men yet?” he asked. “No not yet”, “Well keep hoping, maybe one day.” He laughed. “So what do you need from me?” So I sat with him and told him my plan… “ All I need from you is to do everything you do so well and we will all reap the benefits.”
“Im in he said, but we need a few more people, I would say another fierce pirate and the one Tom Lowe, but understand Draque, Tom won’t come easy, and it will cost you, but its worth it. Go to the beach on this map with two coconuts, a bottle of your finest rum and a chest with 10mil gold. If he accepts your offer, you will know.
Caladan – A millwright was the person who could fix anything that needed fixing and Caladan truly is that person. Besides being a Merc, he is a textbook fighter with 20,000 battles, he is also has over 1000 skirmish wins and over 1000 plundered ships. He is a master of the markets and is the obvious compliment to The Accountant and visa versa. He truly is and extremely versatile fixer of anything.
The Next day I headed to the beach listed on Cala’s map, sat down and unloaded the coconuts, rum and chest of gold…and waited….and waited… and was about to give up when an eerie fog rolled in off the surf. As I reached for my dragoon, a dagger landed in the sand near my nether regions again, “YOU KNOW I HAVE OTHER BODY PARTS” I yelled…I could see a wisp of a figure moving toward me in the fog…
Tom Lowe – The Juggernaut
I never saw his face, it all happened so fast… as the fog got thicker I heard a gravely whisper come from nowhere and everywhere at one… “Im In” the voice said… and the fog lifted leaving me sitting in the sand rumless and missing one rather large chest.
Tom Lowe is truly a juggernaut, I would dare to say that he is as close as one can get to being actual royalty in Pirates Glory. His list of qualifications are to great to list but include 25,000+ battles, 15,000+ skirmish wins, 1000+ ships plundered, top helper awards, and had been the ruler of some of the most powerful nations Avornmora has ever seen. I was once told how to deal with Tom, the answer was DON’T!
Strange strange days these be. My crew being near complete, but what of my need for another pirate lord? I know just the man for the job, I just hope he will think so.
Ross Red-Hand – Scottish Pirate Lord
I snooped around for days looking for Ross till I came to an old warn down pub in Tortuga. As I walked through the door I heard the unmistakable banter of a drunken Red-Hand. You see, the Scotts have their own slang, if you will, of the Queens English, and as they get drunk, it gets slangier. I will try to recap what I could make out as he was taunting 4 other large pirates.. <Clearing throat> “Something something bangers and mash, something poppy cock, something goats, something jiberish” and the fists went flying. As I stepped in and drew my sword, like a choreographed dance, every other man and woman in the pub stood up and drew down on the other four men.
As the poor souls stood against the wall, Ross staggered to them, smacked them all and as he walked away said, “Kill them”. “What do you want Draque?” He asked I think, ok it was more like “something haggas, Draque?”. I told him my plan, and once he heard Silver Shadow was onboard, he was in. I asked him, if he knew of any new people to the seas who are making names for themselves, he mentioned the names Blue Buddha and Surf Felix. He then turned to me and said “You know I love ya, always had always will”, screamed “freedom” and went back to his drinking.
Ross Red-Handed is a vicious pirate. Rated number 3 on the boards, which is remarkable for someone with a number of 82k+. He Already has 1000+ battles won and 1000+ Skirmishes Won
Blue Buddha – A rookie trained by the Master Pirate Vane Himself. Blue Buddha is definitely someone to keep an eye on as he is one of the few rookies I found who already has 1000+ battles won and had reached 5.5 mil Fame all from a 90k+ player number. Impressive.
Surf_Felix – A rookie being trained by The Accountant and Caladan. What stood out to me is his ready, fire, aim technique when attacking. He has hit most of the largest names in the game, then come back and asked how to defend. He is fearless in his play style, and I expect him to make quite a name for himself.
Our team has been assembled not just to attack ships, not just based on muscles; we can control every aspect of Avonmora.
1. Captain Da Vinci – Master of the Trade Lines
2. Clockwork – The Nation Maker
