Putting the Glory back in Pirates Glory

So over the course of the last year and a half I have been part of this game and, for the most part, have enjoyed it. This game has a very interesting cast of characters that is ever evolving. The gameplay also changes with the seasons. I really have loved the various story lines that have been created and the battles that have ensued. However, over the last few months, in my humble opinion, the game has essentially died. Now, I know CJ will share metrics that the game is still going good and user numbers are good but the reality is the plunder boards are typically empty sans the occasional light up or the harvesting of an inactive and there are no good story lines. The forums have been relegated to a few people creating RP stories, that while are interesting to check on occasional aren't really that fun to the majority and then there is Grimlock randomly making threads lol.

So my question is, how do we put the glory back into Pirates Glory? Are there still lots of active players in your guilds or is there a plague of inactive members that your guild is sheltering? Do you think this game to get back to where it was 18 months ago when I joined where piracy was rampant and it seemed like Vane or Shadow were capping fleets on the daily or has that ship sailed?

In my opinion, things only just slowed down after the plantation is out, but maybe even before then.

:xx

Merchants depend on stocks a lot, if you take your time to look at active ports list, you will see a lot of vital trade routes has already run dry.

That or the price of the good has increased too much for anyone to use them anymore.

And poor merchants are not good targets.

It died out way before that.

As a Privateer and member of MERC, I'd usually be VERY active on the plunderboards - For a time being, it felt like, I, Accountant, Caladan, 2-3 from VUDU and CDV really were the only actives one there, worthy to just waste a few turns on - Now that isn't even there. Sure, there's people, but their ships are barely worth stealing, and most sail with gold which ain't fun to attack. Back when I joined, people were lit frequently, and Banger joined before that. Now it's just... Whatever.

I miss those times too.

I agree with Banger.... it was slowing down well before plantations, but since that release things have died off.

Maybe time to get blockades up and and running. It would seem to me to be the next logical step. Blockades and Flagships would put the spark back into the Pirates and Privateers.

I agree that there has been a lull in plunder activity. It has been slowly dwindling for a while with the most obvious being at the release of plantations.

A point that I think has been part of the cause is the over protection and over development of newer players.
