Time for another new roleplay. This one is following the events of a Village in Valorim, but you don't have to have knowledge of it to participate in this one.

Its set at a 4, so still pretty unrealistic, but some restrictions do apply.
The other rules are as follows.

1. Try to keep things in character. Don't post something unrelated to the RP here. If you don't like this RP, don't complain about it here. Post a new thread or start your own RP thread if you don't like this one. I would actually be quite happy if someone posts a RP of their own so please feel free to do so.
2. You can control your characters actions-You can not control others. NPC's are fair game and anyone can control them, so long as its believable and in character. A guard for example shouldn't just up and decide to shoot an orphan for no reason-that is out of character. Anyone without a name will be considered a NPC, if you name a character but want it to be a NPC then just mention that said character is NPC in quotation marks after a post.
3. You are allowed to have multiple characters- but be reasonable. Don't flood the story with a bunch of your characters. 2 or 3 in one story is fine, anything past that is sort of pushing it unless you are really good at managing them.
4. Use Italics for actions, and try to separate things nice and neat. Also use paragraphs when needed. Quotations if for speaking out of the roleplay.
5. No editing of a post once you post it. The exception is to fix spelling mistakes or minor errors. It can be real annoying when someone posts one thing and another responds to it only to find what they responded too is now completely different.
6. The most important rule- Have fun.

Next post begins the story.

Life in the port of Vaasburg has been rather hectic lately. Several miles nearby in a large cave lives a rather strange but powerful witch named Veera. Many are skeptical of her, though she offers powerful magical services for a price. Many go to her seeking potions, or to ask her to curse or bless them or their enemies. The price for these services vary depending on the task. Some go to her asking to learn magic themselves, many are turned away, but some are allowed to study under her. Many of the more religious want her gone, but lack the power or authority to get rid of her.

A rather large tavern owned by a man named Leonard Is currently serving various patrons. In one corner are several young women, all wearing cloaks marking them as Apprentices of Veera, on the other side are some priests, both sides glaring at each other. The door opens and 2 young men come in, one in priest attire named Brian, the other wearing a robes and a cloak named Carl. They sit at the bar and order a drink as they wait for some more friends to show up, but both examine the tavern. Carl is the first to speak.

2 beers for me and my best mate here.

Leonard hands them both their order and the 2 drink while watching the door and 2 groups closely. Chatting with each other while they wait.

A 60 gun frigate, fully crewed, sails into the harbor. It's sails are taught, the decks are clean, and jack and a catholic priest named Fr. O' Conner stand on the quarterdeck. Though jack is relatively tall, the priest towers over him, his black cassock making him look imposing. He wears a smallsword at his side with engravings on the blade, he's Jack' spiritual advisor, and anti magic protection. His face is stern, but not uninviting. Jack's face on the other hand is cold, nothing cheery at all. Jack wears clothes made for fighting, his long hair is tied back in a pigtail (which was the standard way men wore their hair at the time.) the ship docks, and jack and the priest step off and walk over into the tavern. Jack is suprised to see Leonard in the tavern, he never had known what became of the quartermaster. Jack sits down, the priest sitting down next to him. Jack says to Brian :

How're we doing?

Brian takes a swig of his drink before replying.

Well, doesn't take a genius to see that there is a lot of tension in this bar. And considering I'm dressed in my priest attire quite a few of those glares are directed at me now, but other then that I'm doing great. Real happy my buddy Carl is back, though I do worry about Emily, and I really hate thinking about meeting with Veera.

Leonard comes over and hands Jack and Conner a mug of beer before nodding to Jack and saying somewhat happily.

Been a while since I saw you Jack. Not since you were a midshipman.

Leonard takes a look at Conner, noting he's about the same size as him.

Not very often I meet someone as large as I am. But just a heads up for you lot, since 2 of you are priests, keep an eye out for anyone wearing cloaks like those young women are wearing. It means they work for Veera, and are potentially dangerous.

Brian takes a close look at the cloaks, noting that they are green with a emblem of a circle with a demon in the center. He whispers to Jack.

Yeah, that looks like something Veera would use as a symbol. Wretched monster that she is.

Jack looks to Leonard

Aye, wish I could of kept my commission. You heard what happened right?

The priest takes a swig and looks to Brian and says in his deep Irish accent.

Those women, how experienced are they? In witchcraft? I have a feeling that if someone were to so much as accidentally bump their table there'd be trouble. Though I suppose I could be asking the wrong person.

Leonard nods as he replies.

Yeah I heard what happened Jack. I'm not surprised either. I hate to say it but Larry made a damn good point. Skill can be overlooked if the wrong people are your superiors.

Brian takes a look at the young women a bit, before prodding Carl to go talk to them. He shrugs goes over and is promptly told to pike off by 2 of them, while the other 3 just glower at him. Carl sits back down and Brian replies to Conner.

3 of them probably don't know magic yet, the other 2 probably know some. One thing I keenly remember Emily often said about studying under Veera is that Veera is very tightfisted with her knowledge and tricks. Emily told me that Veera puts all apprentices who study under her through a period of silence. She doesn't teach them any magic until they go a year without their voices. she even uses magic to steal them to make sure they keep quiet. The fact only 2 of them spoke makes me think the other 3 are still under that oath, and can not speak, so have not learned any magic yet.

The priest nods.

Aye aye I see. Any chance of trouble?

Leonard shakes his head.

They typically don't fight in port unless attacked first. Veera forbids them from causing trouble in the port, as she feels that hurts her business. About a third of the entire port goes to her, or her apprentices for their services, and its made her quite wealthy. The local churches forbid any dealings with her, but many don't listen. Even the governor goes to her from time to time, but for what I do not know. But because so many in port do business with her, including most of the politicians, the local church cant do anything about her. A while back a large group of the local pastors, and ministers formed a mob and tried to raid her lair. Their bodies were sent back to the churches butchered, and their heads mounted along her lair on pikes. Nearly half the church leaders died that day.

The priest nods, his face grim. He whispers

Rest assured, God will prevail this time, this evil will stay no longer. How many denominations are there here by the way?

Leonard thinks for a moment before replying.

There is 4 faiths in port with a church. Well 5 if you count the jewish faith in port. It's kinda funny in a sad way, for a while the Jewish populace and Christian didn't always get along til Veera showed up and both sides got together wanting to get rid of her. But as bad as she is, i admit that she mostly keeps to herself. I even warned the local church leaders that instead of charging in to kill Veera it would have been better to just try to block off the people from visiting her, since most people go to her, not the other way around. Poor blokes didn't listen and got slaughtered. If you lot go to visit her, i heavily recommend not causing her trouble. So long as visitors don't cause her trouble, she is normally, for lack of a better word friendly to visitors. But i do recommend not taking her up on any deals she offers you, no matter the offer.
