RP- The Frigate Fleet

Time for a new RP. This one I don't intend to be very long or serious, Its going to be about a 2 on the realism scale, so no voodoo or magic, no divine intervention etc. A few embellishments are fine, but don't go overboard.

Rules are as follows.

1-Can't kill any PC's without the owner's permission. Do not assume you can without getting direct permission. Npc's are fair game for the most part, but you can't do something like kill a whole room full or pirates by yourself unless you did something clever to do so. Keep it somewhat realistic.
2-NPC's can be controlled by anyone, but keep them in character. A guard shouldn't go around committing crimes, and a nun shouldn't be working in a brothel for example.
3-NO voodoo or magic or divine intervention in this RP.
4-Have fun.

Next post starts the story.

In the port of Aiora a fleet of 6 frigates and one large frigate is being sent out to hunt down some cruel pirates nearby. These pirates have been kidnapping young women and children, committing arson, and various other heinous acts and the local authorities have had enough. The pirates are believed to have 3 ships, a Flag galleon, a Brig and a Sloop. The admiral of the Frigates, a older man by the name of Reginald Rogerson has orders to try to capture at least a few of the men alive to learn the whereabouts of those they captured. He stands at the helm of his Large Frigate, named the Vengeful Vigilante as he begins sailing his fleets to the pirates hideout. He sees the weather is bright and sunny, with a strong wind pushing them along. He shouts to his crew.

Good day to hunt some pirates, and a good day to die men.

6 miles and three points off the Larboard bow of the flagship, a 64 gun frigate flying no colors, with sails tautly set like that of a navy Man o' war appears. It is surrounded by a mist that appears to be coming on from that point.

a reminder that no magic or voodoo is allowed in this rp jack, so that mist has to be natural, and can't do anything that mist in real life can't do.

The Admiral signals for the ship to identify itself and to steer cleer, while he commands all his fleets to prepare to launch a volley of shots at it. He orders his men to fire if it moves in closer.

The frigate raises the blue ensign. (British naval standard). A man on the quarterdeck calls:

Commodore James fisher hunting pirates!

Reginald nods as he asks if they seen the pirates near here. He also say's he has word on where their hideout is, and was heading there now.

WTF? How did you close 6 miles instantly. As well, unless they were in the crows nest (lookout for those that don't understand the terminology), the ships would be on the edge of the horizon. At 25feet above sea level (rough estimate of deck height above sea level), the horizon and visibility (assuming a clear day) is 6 miles.

I figure if they raised the ensign, the fleet would let them come closer-though staying prepared to blast them, and we could just say it fast forwarded to them being close to each other. Saves a bit of time and writing. But yeah, otherwise there's no way one of his men could shout to the fleet. No one has a voice that loud.

Fair enough. My only other point is WTF is Larboard. I assume he meant Starboard as in the right side of the ship. Since I am mentioning it.

Starboard = Right*
Port = Left*
Bow = Front
Stern/Aft = Rear

*Direction is always determined standing at the Aft or Stern of the Ship facing the Bow.

A smoke plume can be seen on the horizon 15 degrees off the starboard bow.

Larboard is another name for port
