As the topic of role playing, or lack there of, has come about. I am posting this to get some good role playing started. Please follow the rules of role playing as prescribed by Captain Jack. Additionally, to help keep some uniformity and order to the Role Play I will list a few additional tidbits to help make it easier to read and play.
Captain Jack in How-to Tavern & Roleplay wrote: Greetings everyone,
This is the first roleplay forum.
In the future, all topics posted here will be separated from the rest regarding in-game display. This is uneeded for now.
The game is a role playing strategy. Feel free to post whatever your character wants to say. Here is a small list of house rules:
1) For every new topic write [RP] in start of the title - This will indicate to the rest reading from the in-game Tavern that this is a roleplaying thread.
2) You can only post and speak as your character and not anyone else. Referrals to anything else but the game is disallowed. Everything must be World related. For example, there is no New York in the game so you can't mention it without first describing what this New York thing is.
3)Insults are allowed. However they must be made in a smart and obvious matter. They can be done in order to irritate. THEY MUST BE DIRECTED TO THE CHARACTER AND NEVER TO THE PLAYER.
Forum moderators will ensure that everything is kept in order.
In future, there will be rewards for good roleplaying.
Additional Rules of this specific roleplay are as follows:
1) All non talking character actions and descriptions must be written in Italics.
2) Non-Italics is your character talking.
3) Keep full discussions limited to other players, if you converse with an NPC created for the storyline, you must also create their response. Responses must be appropriate for their character and backstory.
4) If you introduce a new NPC to the story that didn't previously exist, you must provide a basic backstory for them in the event another player interacts with them.
Example: The piercing whine of the un-oiled hinges filled the tavern as Captain Jack pushed open the door. He looked around while stepping towards the bar, flipping a gold coin in his hand. He turned to the bartender and said: Ahoy, Matey. Give me the best rum ye have.
End of ExampleAs of the end of this post, all Role Play Rules are in effect. The Second Post of this topic will begin the role play.

The White Ghost Tavern of Tortuga
Just past the last wharf of Tortuga Harbor, lies the The White Ghost Tavern. A whitewashed two story stone structure, the tavern was originally the harbor master's office, which has moved closer to the center of the harbor. The first floor of the tavern consists of several tables and a row of booths along the side walls. A large fireplace separates the booths along the right wall. The area is well decorated with cutlasses, pictures, miniature ships, and other seafaring items. A well stocked bar sits center against a dividing wall for a storage/kitchen area in the back. A set of stairs on the back right, adjacent to the rear room door, heads to a second floor which holds a billiards room and 5 bedrooms for guests. A second set of stairs can be seen through the storage/kitchen doorway. The stairs lead to the cellar but are roped off with a sign saying private.
The tavern is staffed by John, the bartender and owner, and 6 barmaids. It is rumored John was once a fierce pirate that has changed his name and retired to a simpler life. When ever asked he denies such allegations, but his demeanor, his rugged sea-dog look, his salt and pepper hair, long white beard, and his stories of the seas still makes guests at his tavern wonder if the rumors are true.
This day started like any other, returning the tavern to it's well cleaned and maintained appearance after the previous nights events.

A man, wearing a strange cloak and some type of shiny dark metal armor, stands outside of the entrance. His face covered with his helmet and looking directly forward. He treads through the entrance, his steps making a metallic boot sound on the tavern's wooden flooring with a deep, sinister sound to every step. He stops at the counter, still facing forward, and now seems to have what appears to be a glowing-red aura within his armor...and a sword across his back...blacker than the darkest of night. He leans on the countertop, both arms crossed in a right-over-left style.
What's on the menu today? He asks the bartender. The knight's voice is deep and raspy as if the voice of a giant and the sound of dominance hinted within his voice. His eyes...glow with the color of fire and blood all in one...a sense of revenge and bloodlust can be felt from these cold eyes in the dark helmet.

A young man of about twenty walks in through the door. He wears the grimy clothes of a sea captain, his hair is long, he sports a short goatee and mustache. At his side is a worn cutlass and in his belt are two pistols. He looks the at a wanted poster that has a face on it similar to his, under the picture there is a list of crimes including: Piracy, smuggling, arson, highway robbery, kidnapping, sailing under false colors, and Papism. He adjusts his hat and tries to change his look as much as possible, but to little avail. He then steps up to the barkeep. Rum, if you please, sir.

John finishes cleaning the bar counter. With his piercing grey eyes, he looks at the stranger leaning on his bar. John with a deep voice that can chill the soul replies
Well Matey, I'll be serv'n ya a brok'n arm if ya keep leaning on my clean bar.
John let's out an eerie chuckle, that could creep out the toughest and bravest men in Avonmora. His demeanor quickly shifts to a more welcoming posture and says:
I'm just mess'n with ya. Our special today is Capt'n Jack Seafood Stew. It's da best seafood stew d'is side of Avonmora. Just let me or one of da barmaids know when ya ready to order.
John's demeanor again shifts back, puts his hand on the man's arm, and says:
Seriously, don't be leaning on my bar.
John turns away and grabs a bottle of rum and a glass for the other young man at the bar. He pours a glass and places it in front of the young man.
Here ya go mate, that be 5 gold coin.

The knight looks at John and speaks, continuing to lean on the counter.I see you are in the voices of men...between you and me...I doubt the barmaids would serve me. Besides...the others here would like to see if these rumors are true to the tongue of the devil himself.
The stranger turns to the side and leans on his right arm. This better for your feelings?
Looks at the young man on his left. Your bounty is offering a free diary with 12 gold coins, along with a half-sunk Cutter. Who did you kidnap and what flag did you sail under my good sir?

John looks at the man who continues to lean on the bar and says
I'll ask you one last time to not lean on my bar. Don't be fool'd by my age or looks. I maintain a high standard for my customers and in return they follow my rules and are protected while on the premises.
As for my barmaids, they will take your order and serve you as that is there job. If you think you intimidate them, you are sorely mistaken.
Now, if you don't have an order ready, I have things to do. This place doesn't run itself.
John moves away to return the bottle of rum to the shelf.

The young man looks at the knight and laughs. Mate, first of all, that's not that mans bounty, secondly I am not that man. Also, did you see the other crimes? They are far more heinous than you are implying, do you really think that piracy and highway robbery are taken that lightly? The bounty is actually quite high. Although, he is not technically wanted in this province so arresting him would also in fact be illegal. Savvy?

Another knight, wearing a scorched black armor and carrying a longsword enters, his face full of scars from battle, enters, his expressionless eyes glow red, a Black Templar. He watches the young man with great fury.
"Criminals, filth like you infest the city like rats"said the Templar
