I miss the old days of ZomB being the feared Merchant raiders, them running daily HN raids on players to collect cash. It seems that all these new techs have people focusing on making money through them rather than raids. Fleets are used for mostly cargo now and you don't see the large round of hitting a merch until he only has 25 fame and them being happy that they can't be touched anymore... Oh the good old days of fearing for your fleets, limited ways to make gold and even more limited ways to store money, storing it in banks and no longer running large purses and burying it... really pushed people to raid and have fun with each other, as annoying as it was to come on and see someone was able to sneak three HN's through and mess up your day, it was fun. Now everyone snaps instantly because they have so much invested in these techs, a HN raid messes them up for days. The game has changed for sure in the 4 years I have played, some good some bad, but it is starting to move into another era it seems away from Pirates and more into an economy based game, which isn't bad but far different from when I first started.

Okay enough of living in the past, more towards the future.

So true, senior players even advised you to build up warehouses and stock them with tools as a way to protect your wealth and have it available in emergencies. Then banks and goldsmiths came along.

Trixi used to be one of the most feared pirates around and I think the Helm forum still has an old discussion topic from 4 years ago dedicated to her daily raids. If you try that now you're on the bounty list with permanent confuse cards cast against you. A lot of the pirates now simply skirmish or piggyback on the odd HN of others.

When you run with a person of 3 mil instead of a person with 15 mil, the 250k hits are limited to 5 max instead of 15 plus... Also the lower payouts on hits is another crappy factor.

Oh I know it is still profitable, but it is just struck me today as I have been poking around that times have changed drastically.

I miss the active forums of people poking fun at each other but not becoming upset by their comments and raids being conducted but both parties would accept the loss/gain, said “good luck next time!” and moved on.

The worst part is, I was never on the attacking end! Lol, times have changed but it will be for better I hope
