I have been in the top spot for the better part of a year and half. I have been blessed to see Egypt and SSAA come a long way and been surrounded by great folks.
However, maintaining the top position is growing too taxing on me. I might just be taking the game a little too serious and that had RL repercussions.
While I am not retiring, I decided that I am going to start over the next few months to relinquish the top spot starting with fame.

It has been a good run at the top spot and I will still be around but I will not actively pursue maintaining these spots anymore.

Should have just done so quietly, and stated it as an after the fact. I would anticipate hostilities towards Egypt to ramp up as some will use this as a sign that Egpyts Ports may soon be easier to attain.

That is already taken care of. The council has been aware for a while.

i kind of have to believe that you stepping down will cause some turbulence for quite awhile you have been on the top of the lists for long enough that it seems like even at the natural decay rate of that influence it will take quite awhile for it to drop enough for someone to overtake you.
