So doing the math, what is cheaper on getting a level 60 ship, using Call of Levi or Mastercraftsmanship,


A mastercraftsman cost 25 credits as of now, while a call of levi is 14.

On average, a ship is usually 39-41 points at level 10, because if you do the math correctly, there is a 3-5 point chance per level up. So (3*3)(4*3)(5*3) + 3 or 4 or 5. - All theoretical.

So you want a 60 pointer ship, that is 24*(21) or 24*(19) credits. = 504 or 456.

Now lets try the call of levi idea. A call of levi+level up hoping you get 5 points is possible. Doing the math, 3 call of levis theoretically cast on one ship should result is one of the level ups being 5 points. That is 14*3 =42 credits.

You are to do this most likely as you level up your ship, meaning its 42(10) = 420 credits.


Theoretically, it is cheaper to upgrade your ship in order to achieve a 60 pointer using call of levitation and leveling up than using mastercraftsman.

As of prices now, if you were to make this equivalence exist at other rates and prices.

As long mastercraftsman are worth 1.538x more than levis, levitation are a better way to get a 60 pointer ship.


Adding in ship upgrades:
Counting ship prices I am guessing this would be for an sotl. This strategy should take 21 Great Expeditions + around 1 mil for the first 9 level ups through 1-3.

That is around 210 credits.

So 420+210 = 630 credits.

So the equivalence there would be

If leviathans cost 13/20 of a mastercraftman, without factoring in ship upgrade costs, they are equal costs in getting a level 60.

But, say a levithan costs 8 credits

That is 8*3=24. 24*10=240.

240+210=450 credits. Meaning that if a levithan is only worth 1/3 of the price of a mastercraftsman and the great expedition card is worth 10 credits, factoring in ship prices, it is about as good as mastercraftman on getting a 60 pointer sotl.

I made this out of boredom.

That is a big risk when a MC is a guarantee.

Disagree, your calculations assume too much and don't properly take into consideration costs of leveling up.

The cost of leveling up a SOTL from Level 9 to Level 10 is 3,375,000 gc or 22.5 credits (Credits are going for about 150k each). Or if you use an expedition Journey 11.7 credits (current going rate in market).

So for each Call Leviathan used thats 14 Credits, and for each Expedition Journey that's another 11 Credits.

So you are breaking even on costs for:
- 1 in 9 chance of gaining an additional attribute point over Master Craftsman
- 2 in 9 chance of breaking even with Master Craftsman
- (BEST ONE) 6 in 9 chance of gaining no attributes or gaining negative attributes compared to Master Craftsman.

Mathematically, you will spend more credits leveling up to 60 Attribute Points via Call Leviathan than just using Master Craftsman.

Thinking on it : your cheapest option is probably to build to lvl2, levi, rebuild using coin, levi, etc : this cuts out the need for EJ's reducing cost of the extra atts to the levi and lvl2 build cost.

Get your level 2 up to around 20-25 atts then build to 10 as normal, should put you close to 60 if not above.

You don't know how many points you'll gain or lose each time. Your ship might get fewer after a levi and a level up, instead of more. Assuming it is equally probable to gain 3, 4 and 5 points, and equally probable to lose 3, 4 and 5 points, it's possible to calculate the probability of getting your level 2 SoL to 20 points after a specific number of rounds with levi and levelling up. I haven't done the math yet, but you'd probably end up with lots of poor ships for each success.

I did start to experiment with this notion a while back : strictly speaking, the maths are against it but we have all seen those mad streaks of 'luck' where the Avonmora Randomiser gets drunk or forgets where it put its decimal point...

some trerapeutic work that is meaningless, but with the buzz of great financial and scientific significance.

so Ramen, select the ship type you have most. since the masters way is known and certain allocate your great pool of ships to this valuable research.

this is your scientific way to fame:

get your ships on a level footing, cast voodoo on all so that they all start at lvl1, points 1

1/3 of your ships you level up and down between the levels 1&2 as long as needed to get 60 pointer
1/3 follows the level up system first and goes between the levels 9 and 10
1/3 keeps going all the way iup and down until they get the desired 60 point.

keep good records for all those ships, it will be very valuable research that when published will be well received by the community at large!

I did use to do this long back, usually got the sotl to 48-52 atts at lvl 10 depending on how lucky i was. The thing is though, if you have more than a 100 ships, instead of using levis at lvl 2 like danik said, you should just intentionally lose to a NPC fleet to lose a lvl on your ship instead of wasting a call leviathan. (Also there were some other factors involved, but thats for another time i guess)

Have anyone even gotten it to 60 point with call levi?
I have tried it once, 11 time with a sloop, they all only gave 3 points, (Coin upgrade).
There was once where i gotten 7 points but at that time the points it has was only around 30-something.

It that time I have concluded that there is a point system and not just that simple.
I thought that when a ship is build each ship will have a point limit of random from 40 - 50.
And upgrading a ship can't get pass the limit but must be min 3 point and max 5 points.(Random of 3 - 5 if not at limit.) (Only if that if that Expedition Journey is used, give 3 - 7 points and if the limit is lower then max by 7 point, no matter the luck it will still give 7. Unless it will become over the limit then it will be 6,5...etc.
And mastercraftman is the only voodoo that can break that limit. And that sabotage will lower that limit.

Or the cheapest route be to have enough ships ye sink chance be high continually attack an lose to an NPC, level lose ect. Until ye reach yer desired results Savvy?..
