Voting Poll For Best Draft Team
Posted: Sat Sep 17, 2016 1:19 amOk you scallywags, here it is! The power of the draft is now in you hands. No matter who wins, I want to thank all the "Captains" for their time in doing this draft. They are among the finest sailors in Avonmora and one of the reasons why they were chosen to do this awesome event! A big thank you to all that have commented and supported this draft. It was an excited 2 days! A HUGE THANK YOU to Captain DaVinci for stepping up with and additional $68,000,000 in winnings!!! Unreal!
I will post the "Captains" blurbs on their teams in DRAFT ORDER. Please read over them when making your decision to vote on the best team assembled.
Everyone can vote, EVEN THE CAPTAINS! I trust all will make an informed decision and not be biased on the team they chose or the players who were selected, the team they are on. Everyone will get 1 VOTE! The winner will be the "Captain" who has the most votes. I will let the voting take place over 5 days. This will allow time for the weekend and then time to get caught up. Please comment on how you think the draft went, should we do it again, why you voted for which team, etc... It would be great to hear your feedback and thoughts.

STAN ROGERS:
It is interesting to see how the draft evolved. One thing for certain, all the 'pickers' had very similar mindset of what makes a good team. Some felt a strong financial backing was more important than a strong offense/defence.
Some chose to balance out all aspects of living in Avonmora.
My team, I choose strong offence and defensive capabilities, close teamwork and members who are not afraid to act in unison or on their own.
It would probably be best suited for a blitzkrieg type assault with the abilities of 5 very strong offensive members that are capable of multi-prong assaults.
Financial strength is not as strong as some teams but I feel a rapid deployment would be able to neutralize the threat before it was able to become active.
Many of the players I chose, I know their strengths and abilities and teamwork is no stranger to most of us.
Many are or have been in Ayes but this is only a small advantage to why they were chosen. I really feel my choices were made on merit and observations.
It is no means a perfect team and many players I wanted were chosen before my turn came around but all said and done, I think this team I have had the pleasure of choosing could be very easily, the most feared team in Avonmora.
SIR HENRY MORGAN:
First, it be an honor to be chosen to select a dream team - a team in which to move forth into Avonmora in search of fame, glory and riches.
It be evident all have knowledge, gifts and talents they bring to the table. Everyone does, whether they made a dream team or not. I certainly did not get all my dream picks, but I knew there were still many on the table that would fit what I be lookin' for.
What I look for is honor and respect, for their mates, their allies, adversaries and themselves. Their actions speak for them and the words they use and how they use them also speak to their character.
It not be what one has or doesn't have, or whether they win or lose - it be how they play the game that makes my dream team a success. It not be for the greater good of the team, or the greater good of the individual, but the greater good of all that be the heart of my dream team.

To be honest I think I may have been the only one who came into this with a draft plan instead of a players list. Here was what I came in looking to get in the order of turns. I must say, I succeeded in drafting the best team of all. Each and every pick has a purpose and a reason for being there.
Pick #
1. Every team should have an enforcer. A player whom others revere and dread. A name that makes others not wish to mess with you. A player others don't want to mess with for a reason. I want one they fear taking on. Tom Lowe
2. I need someone who can look at the finances of the team and keep the gold providers on a plan for success. This person also needs to be able to analyze possible battles and predict the outcomes based on mathematical progressions. I want the best statistician I can find. Shaydo
3. I need a combat tactician. I want the best there is. I want a tactician that doesn't follow the rules of combat but creates new combat tactics. RoiLeon
4. I want a person who can use voodoo to complete a task put before him. I want someone experienced at following a war plan and making it successful. This person needs to have lots of experience at combat and will not flinch. He needs to be experienced enough to be able to change a plan if it is called for, after all things don't always go as planned. R0nnie
5. I want someone who will throw voodoo and follow orders even if it means loosing everything. This person helps execute the plan passed on to the first voodoo caster. He is there to be a voodoo machine and just do the job with no fear or concern about what may happen to him. Bmw
6, 7, & 8. For all this to happen I need mega traders who can keep the gold flowing. I need people who are willing to be part of a team and do their part passing gold on even while being attacked. I need players who are so strong in trading that even a well executed attack will not make them loose the ability to keep on earning lots of gold. They need to provide the gold to buy credits for voodoo for the voodoo users. They must also make enough gold where they can provide defensive voodoo for the team. They must be strong enough you can't stop them! Each of these players need to be able to go in and fight when the voodoo casters light people up. Yosarian, Dozer White Beard, and Sackett
9. Every team needs additional fighters who are well rounded in all areas of the game. These are people who will also serve as advisors to the tactician and the voodoo casters. These are people who will step in where needed in all areas of the team including attacking others with voodoo or ships. Grapefruit
10. This pick needs to be a solid all around player. One who knows how to earn gold and use voodoo. This player also needs to be one with trade value in case there is an opening to get another player if you have one position that does not work out. Captain Fuzzykitten
CHARLES VANE:
Based on my style of play I opted to go for a formidable pirate crew. One that has the experience, knowledge, and prowess in battle. My picks reflect those who have struck fear in the hearts of their enemies, made their aggressors think twice before engaging them in open waters, or have amassed a great amount of wealth regardless of attempts made to strip them of their purse.
Quick and decisive action can be executed well when it needs to be with this team while the most profitable and difficult jobs would be planned to the finest detail and carried out flawlessly. Preparation could be easily financed between the bank owners we have on our roster and the mounds of gold we have hidden beneath the dirt.
All members chosen work very well as a team and have shown this in every aspect of their play.
I would like to thank Shadowood for hosting such an event and point out just how entertaining this was for everyone. Proof is in the views in just 2 days! I appreciate the opportunity in being one of the chosen captains and look forward to the results. Not only for the winning team but to see how the rest of Avonmora found this draft to be!
If team Vane is chosen, all winning proceeds will be distributed amongst my 10 chosen picks. They make up the team therefore they should be rewarded!

Here is why I think my team is best. Every member of the team brings something unique to the table. My team has multiple great tacticians in both trade and in war. All members have significant voodoo chest and some of them have no problem replenishing theirs rather quickly. We are strong in battle power and experience. We are great traders and tacticians.
I think this team is a well balanced team that can last and go places.
