Sir Henry Morgan's Skirmish Challenge

All right, mates - here be how it goes - I have 118 trade routes hauntin' the seas of Avonmora. Of these 118 trade fleets, there be only one little fleet that carries gold bars. As I can be only skirmished 5 times between updates, here's the challenge:

Of the five times I be skirmished, the sea dog who wins the skirmish and scores the highest bounty will receive 10 million gold coins bonus. I will be usin' my battle report for the score, as the new hideout technologies don't show on these reports. If there be a tie, the purse will split equally among the highest scorers.

For the first bloke to skirmish and defeat a gold bar shipment wins the day and double the purse - 20 million gold coin.

Note: 1.) Any use of voodoo on me person or enterprise will disqualify ye from this challenge!
2.) Ye can only win a single Skirmish Challenge Prize during the festival.

At this time, the contest will run for 5 days, mates, so fire up those ships and get to huntin'!

My apologies, mates - I split off the Challenge topic to better serve the festivities, and well, the top page ended here, but I did hold onto the previous discussions.

The good news is the challenge still stands with 4 days to do.
The bad news be I spilled a half a bottle of rum in the process of movin' the blasted topic!

I suspect the seas will be blazin' in a couple hours as the scallywags and seadogs try to find which fleet be movin' me gold bars, and try to skirmish them away....

As Mr. Delrio decided to hit the same fleet five times in an attempt to win a second award, thus ends this version of my skirmish challenge. As I believe he cannot restrain himself, I hereby end this challenge, as it has not been the fun it was intended and fails to represent the atmosphere I had hoped it would in celebrating HELM's Anniversary.

But no worries, mates! There be more opportunities on the horizon!

It is hard to tell what will work, and what will not. I appreciate the effort, though! I think this is a nice way to promote "peace and understanding" throughout Avonmora through friendly competition.

Perhaps a challenge like this one would have worked better if the Skirmish limit had been five times pr. attacker, rather than five times pr. target? Then, the contest could have been about finding and skirmishing your one gold fleet. I am not saying the Skirmish rules should be changed (nor that they SHOULDN'T), just stating that I believe that for a contest such as this, such rules would have been advantageous - although it would probably have meant that most of your ships would have been skirmished several times a day for the period of the competition

Looking forward to the next challenge! Alas, I have no SoL - I admit looking through the Ship Market, but the SoLs for sale there were not old enough to win the SoL competition

There be a new one in the pipeline, mate - the issue was someone was simply going for the daily prize and not lookin' for the chance at a gold bar shipment (which I understand, as the odds be long). Therefore, the tactic was to slam the same fleet 5 times quickly and take all the skirmishes before anyone else could join the fun. Prizes were too large, I wager.

Hey, ye play a game to win, that's what ye do. Ye play for fun, well, ye play it all a bit differently.

Regardless, we be workin' on some other challenges...
