I know right? But Sal makes a good point. If innocent people die, the arena gets shut down, and that means no fights period. You know, the whole reason we even built this damn place was so we could test out our creations in fights and see how they fare. Well without having to kidnap people or attack ports with them. But of course something complicates things. Oh, on that subject, what did you think of the plant Emily made? A pretty good creation in my opinion. Made to just keep pumping out those little critters and swarm the enemy. Give it enough time and it can make a literal army. Only problem is if you catch it before it makes any its pretty helpless.

To be fair, the critters was easy as hell. Might be meant to, but as soon as someone notices the motherplant... A little fire or something like that is all it require...
But perhaps, more of them... More critters to spawn...

Which is why we made this arena-to test out creations, see how to improve them, and any weakness they may have. The plant however wasn't meant to be spotted or put in the front line. Its purpose is to be put somewhere secluded, wait til it creates a large amount of critters, then unleash them on a target. Imagine having to fight hundreds of them at once. Or thousands. And until the mother is found, it will never stop making them. The critters also do not tire, unlike humans. So even if they are easy to kill, with enough of them, sooner or later warriors will tire, and be taken down.

Fight them in a narrow area, and you can exchange your old frontline and keep them there for days... If your army is well trained. Form a shield wall and have pikemen to stab them or a row of heavy knights... Archers to support. Send out a scout party, consisting of "elites" with all sorts of weaponry and they'll handle them with ease of they find some.

Thats assuming they know they are coming. Imagine if one day your just walking about town and thousands of them storm the place. Now i will admit that a well trained army, once they organize can pretty easily handle them. But until said army arrives the damage they could do would be quite a lot. And until the army finds the mother they will be stuck fighting the critters for quite some time, occupying them, leaving other areas they could guard unprotected.

Send them at the nords, I dare you. Men and women are all capable... Or skilled in other people's tongue. Agnar and I see what they call Maktigs. The best warriors there are. And all carry their weapons, and built our ports and towns in such narrow areas... But you're right. In most places they'd make a problem

Any well trained modern force could do much of the same, trust me. You don't need weapons that are several hundred years old to succeed here.

You should have seen the original plans for the plant. I actually told Emily to tone it down for the arena. The original plan she came up with was that when the critters die they would emit poison gas, and to have acid in their bodies. Anyone who killed one in melee would have their weapon start to melt and the gas start to kill them. Now you might be thinking, just use ranged attacks to kill them. And sure that would work, for a time. But eventually you would run out of ammo. And they would be rushing the ranged fighters the whole time. There is a reason why we put Emily in charge of creating new creations, she has a good knack for it, and comes up with all sorts of devious ideas.

Wouldn't be surprised if she made them shoot out spikes at some weird time. We in the Nord embrace the best of both. Most of the seamen even got flintlocks, as old-time we may look, but I prefer not to use. And some of the old big ass armours can make flintlocks bounce like hell.

Regarding the poisonous gasses and such... Well... Not much to do there
