Jack calmly walks over to the rail and looks down at the merman.

How many ships are there?

The merman holds up his hand

I counted 5. Frigates I believe they were. Good sized.

The merman shakes his head

Nah, most things you got aren't worth much to us merpeople. Just don't pollute the seas or anything and we'll call it even.

The merman swims off as Mel quickly goes to meet with Jack

So how do you wanna deal with the 5 ships? Parley? Lay a trap?

Jack wipes his forehead

We can try parleying first, but we need some sort of backup plan. Do you know any spells pertinent to our situation?

Course I do. I'm an old seahag. I could unleash a swarm of sea worms and have their ships hulls so badly damaged a single cannonball will sink them. Be warned though, they take time to eat through the hull, so if you want me to do that the sooner the better. So if you manage to parley with them, then you're gonna have some explaining to do about their ships hulls.

Jack looks at the sky, and then back at mel

Can you create a really thick fog?

Here's what we'll do: We'll create two platforms with a small mast, some rigging, some sail and a lantern. From a distance, it'll look like a ship. They'll pursue it while we slip away with no lights.

Sounds good to me. I'll get to work making that thick fog.
