Jack walks over to the merchant and pulls out his cutlass, he brings him to his senses, points his cutlass at his throat, Jack laugh and then scowls (it is clear that Jack is the one who fired the pistol at the merchant). Stand and deliver!
The merchant empties out his money purse, giving it all to Jack. C'mon, mates, give it up!
Jack proceeds to rob every rich man in the bar, however he only does this from known extortionists and bad men. Jack laughs as he makes a pretty fortune extorting money from men who pay too little for hard work. Work spreads through the tavern and the city that Captain Jack "the sparrow" Teach has been stealing money from corrupt government officials in Tortuga. The high ranking men he did not take money from include Church officials, clergy, and a host of other men. Any and all attempts to stop him have proved futile as he friends with the governor of Tortuga, allowing him to temporarily, co-own the city with the governor!
