A soft chuckling can be heard as Vune waves at them, as the "island" turns out to be some sort of giant turtle/whale beast as it looks around the surface of the water snapping at whatever was left behind. Vune nods to Jack

Sweet smells lead to sour events. This is one of 2 beasts that use sweet scents-the other is far worse. But the Aspidochelone is such a smart creature. It waits for sailors to setlle on its back, then when it feels the heat of fire it sinks, drowns the men, and has a snack. Oh and you might want to start sailing away by the way. It's rather slow, but if you stick around, it can and will eat your ships.

The beast continues looking around, as Brian immediately orders his crew to sail full speed away.

The ships prepare to make sail and quickly move away.

The beast pursues, but is left behind rather quickly as it gives up and settles back down. Zephyra quickly marks on her map-beware monster island. Carl looks to Vune

Why are you here?

She laughs

Im bored, and figure id see how you all were doing. That being said, i also came to let you know the 2nd expedition is nearly finished-they will be following after you-so if you all get stranded or run out of supplies, help will arrive. Now i need to pop back over to fill more forms

She quickly vanishes back to Kanoni as she waits patiently for more volunteers, the captains under Jack call to him.

Where to next? Straight west, or should we go north or south west?

Jack looks about and notices something: they have no wind, the ships slowly halt, they are in the downs. Jack calls back:

Nowhere for now! If any of you want to come over to the flagship for supper you are welocome too!

Brian, Carl and Zephyra all join for dinner, Zeph hands Jack a Large fancy bottle of wine, labeled Helvune and dated 1664 and grins.

Dear old mom gave me some of the family wine for the trip. Its pretty good stuff.

She pours herself and the others a glass and takes a large gulp as she sits for dinner. Brian takes a sip and nods pleased.

Maybe more ships will join us while we wait.

Jack sits down at the head of the table, his wife sits to his right, looking very green, and his son sits to his left. Jack takes a sip.

It's excellent.

Jack thinks for a moment

So zephyra, do you think there are any civilizations out there in these waters, mabye on one of the islands, that are as advanced as ours? I personally wouldn't think so, as they have no contact with any other nations, so they do not develop.

She thinks

From what little information my famiy gave me, there are civilizations out here, though how advanced they didn't say. As for not developing, well they can always interact with other islanders, and i know for a fact that if my mother has met people out here, she's probably made deals with them. A bit of magic and information can really help a society grow Also, your wife looks sick-is she pregnant? Also on that note-kinda dangerous to bring family on a trip like this.

She looks at zephyra

No, I've not gotten my sea-legs yet, though I've been to sea before and even seen combat.

The three priests come and sit down. Jack looks to zephyra

Well, my son, William needs to go to sea, as men in my family generally have gone to sea at that age since the 1570s, and Elizabeth was...

She cuts in

I was sick and tired of jack going off, galavanting about Avonmora, hogging all the fun.

Zephyra laughs

Honestly if I had a say in the matter id be back in my room relaxing, but mother really wants me to get better at magic and fighting, so she figured throwing me out into the unknown would force me to either get better, or die. Sink or swim as she puts it.
