Zephyra nods

Which is why the chose to entrench where they did. It's a marvelous position honestly. But I would be careful on attacking at night as well. I saw that they have laid some traps along the paths up there. I noticed quite a few pit falls they dug, along with a lot of tacks and nails. They really went all out in fortifying the position.

Jack scrutinizes the position with a spyglass.

My men and I have done similar things before, we should be fine.

Zephyra shrugs

If you say so. You won't see much with a spy glass by the way. They are entrenched after all, though you can see the bits of tents they have covering them.

A shot can be heard, followed by a shout

Oy, dumbarses, you realize we got scouts keeping watch for people like you, and we can see you, you know. I suggest you leave if you don't wanna die. While you all were busy yapping and standing around, we already got all our artillery facing your way now. Granted you might be able to beat us with a large enough force, but your gonna lose far more men then we will. So you best just leave and let us finish this fort.

where did I say anywhere they hit you? The guy was basically warning you that they noticed you and your men, and they have their artillery pointed in your direction now, and that if you get closer(in range basically) they will blast you. If you were in range they'd just be blasting you nonstop without warning.

Fair enough

Jack looks to Zephyra

Should we just attack now?

Zephyra looks at him like he's suicidal.

Are you nuts? Do you not realize just how many of your men are going to get slaughtered attacking an entrenched enemy with artillery that knows an attack will be coming? Like that man said, we may win, but if I had to make a guess, I would say the death count would be at least 10 to 1. In other words, you would lose 10 men for every one of theirs. And that's being rather generous, the actual death count would probably be far higher.

If you and your men are willing to take very heavy losses just to stop this fort, you can attack if you want. But I really wouldn't recommend it.

Jack shrugs

It'll be the same if we wait.

He whispers

Unless we feign leaving.

Zephyra shakes her head

They have scouts and patrols they use to keep an eye out for any attacks, that's how they spotted us in the first place. Do you think that once they think we leave, they are just going to lie around and think their safe and stop all reconnaissance? Not to mention with the loss of their sea force, the land force is going to be on extra high alert.

We could attempt to starve them out, but no telling if they have any food reserves with them, and doing so would give their workers more time to finish their fort.

She thinks for a moment, when laughter can be heard as Vune walks up to them, unusually she isn't wearing her mask, and has a huge smile on her face and is carrying a large casket something seems to be struggling in it. She nods to Jack as she looks to Zephyra

I finally finished my search. 20 plus bloody years of searching and I finally finished it. I am in a good mood. A very good mood. So much so that I am here to give Jack a bit of advice and help.

She leans in to him and whispers

Your so focused on one solution-stopping the fort, when you could very easily find an alternative. I have very good relations with many important people-most of the governors being one of them. I can very easily convince the 2 governor's building these forts to allow you special permission to cross undisturbed. And all you need to do is promise not to hit their ports or any fleets in the strait. This would give you and only you access to the strait out of all the pirates in avonmora a massive benefit, and the governor's will benefit from more secure trading.

The casket continues struggling, and Vune just pats it and sushes it.

I would like that of all things.
