The amulet glows a bright green and a huge thump is heard in the ground under jack. Roots start to form under him and a tree sprouts out of the ground. It appears to be the same tree held in place my the magical dome. The amulet quickly flies into the trees bark and a loud crank is heard within the tree. The book also flies into the tree and what sounds like a switch is heard. The tree then quickly dies and a new artifact is found laying in the dead shrubbery. It appears to be a silver circlet with an emerald lining and a sapphire gem on its headpiece. It glows valiently and whispers emily’s name ever so quietly.

Jack looks at the tree with disdain

I don't suppose you have something to tell me? You bloody grew up right next to me.

Emily goes to the circlet sighs and takes it.

Well, might as well go along with it.

Carl just looks confused.

Any reason why you don't seem happy?

Emily just nods

I prefer to gain power and abilities through my own work, merit, research or practice, I don't care for handouts. And I also don't care for borrowing power from others. But I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. Like Vune said, this stuff doesn't seem demonic, so I don't think its malevolent. Also Brian give Jack some damn lemons.

Brian just nods his head

She's right, pretty sure you got scurvy.

Brian reaches into his bag and hands him some lemons.

The old nuns back in Panselo swore up and down lemon juice helped it, and always brought some with them whenever they went sailing. Given how long those ladies lived going all over the place, i reckon they were right.

the circlet speaks to Emily

The undead cannot touch the life of time, nor the living cannot touch in which the living are set to die within. Only the makers of time can pull her strings. I just so happen to be a piece of the maker. Ill allow you to use me to your choosing, making you a time witch.

Emily nods

Okay, but why exactly are you giving me this? Is there a catch? Do you gain anything, do you want anything? And why exactly did you pick me? Why not Vune? She's more or less the strongest mage in the world, she can use time magic on her own.

Jack takes them, cuts one open with a dirk and begins to s**k on it.

Knew that, we just ran out. It was worse a couple days ago.

Brian nods.

The problem is that they spoil. But Emily made me a bag that keeps them frozen and preserved far longer.

Emily quickly corrects him.

I didn't make it, Ell from the guild did. Also Jack, an old trick Ellen had was to mix lemon juice into the water supply of her ship. Keeps it from going bad, and unless you run out of water scurvy wont be a problem-but at that point scurvy is the least of your worries with no water.

Jack grimaces

I find that using rum is generally ok as well.

Emily nods

Well, you just need to make sure everyone drinks in moderation. Drunken men in a sea battle normally don't fare too well. That's why Ellen carried very little rum on her ship. But yeah mixing the lemon juice into rum is another good idea. Though I still would recommend mixing it into the water. Add some sugar with it and its actually quite tasty.

Jack laughs.

Back when I was in the navy, you were only drunk if you couldn't stand up!
