This is one of the longest long games I have seen... Been playing the game about 1 1/2 years now. And not much has changed, except the new players who have joined. I am talking out side of the 4 or 5 tactical moves that I have seen in that 1 1/2 years.

I sure hope to see these long games come to fruition in my time. Should be one to watch! :xx

It may seem as none of the listed options put weight on tacticians.

I agree, but how do you define a great tactician.

I disagree with Shadowood's assessment. There are plenty of tacticians in this game, the problem is that most lurk in the shadows playing the long game and keeping out of the spotlight. They stay hidden for reasons and only a few may now how they operate.

That may be true

However, I could see us running a traditional next time if the Follow the Leader one was chosen this time. A year in between traditional drafts and I am sure there will be lots of changes.

xPROx will have conquered half the map by then
One Eye will have been completely defleeted after he drinks to much and leaves VUDU
Haron will have returned to the game and concocted an scheme to make MERC loads of money
Monty forms an all women's pirate guild and they take out CDV
VandalAxis is largest merchant in the game
PHX goes 100% pirate and raids daily with 5 MoW Fleet
Phantom Harlock is one of the most feared privateers in the game... ever
BMW is still claiming something...
FloatyBoatyKnight just stole a MOW from Black Sparrow
Dman just asked his mom for a bigger allowance... buys more voodoo. Now has the biggest chest in the game.
Chin Chin and Shadowood are friends and collaborate on everything and work to take down xPROx

Vane is still waiting for Flagship.....

Where does Delrio fit in in this...

The tacticians in the game are only known by a few(depends) in the event that something happens and they create a way that enables them to analyse, plan, execute and defeat the problem. In this way many will realise that said person is a good tactician.

I mean succesfully planning a raid which eventually ends up in the defleeting of SHM is epic...but is it good enough to be a tactician?
Then again.....:pirateflag

No changing votes this time round please as it ruined the last draft. In the end the whole voting process became quite ridiculous.

I would have to agree that the last voting left a sour taste in some people's mouths.

Lol! Back when you could remove ships from fleet with danger on it, yes I would have done that.
I think 5 SOTL is fine enough for that :beer

I am no where near close to you guys but I intend to aim for that but that is a lot of catching up to do.

for this round i like to set a specific goal. e.g. capture and hold 15 port for 1 month -or- first team to gain 1000 points in ship stealing (various ships howker 1 point. .. mow 75 points, while ships lost are -2 to -150)

after the goal is announced, all players can apply to become team leader by posting a motivational letter.
the first poll is to get 10 leaders chosen from the applicants, after that the regular team building starts

last draft i was contacted by several captains to see how i would fit in.

it could be fun when the captains get a starting capital (from generous sponsors) and that the draftees can be bid on; that the captains have to make a public offer in goldcoins or other valuable items to the draftee. a player becomes part of the team when he accepts the offer. other captains can put up counter offers as long as their draft capital is sufficient and have open slots in the team.

when a captain who nominated a draftee could not secure that player in his team than he can select e new player immediately. this to be repeated until he secures a player for his team. the captain who gained a player while it was not his turn loses his turns to nominate a player until the other teams have the same amount of players as his team. (he can keep bidding on other nominees however.)

in this scenario do the draftees get a reward as soon as they sign on to a team, paid by their team captain.
the captains can keep the remaining capital as their reward. once the draft starts the capital available cannot be raised anymore.

this scenario will hopefully prevent the buying of votes in the end, and put value to the various players.
