Has there been any progress? I assume that Mel still has the King, but I haven't checked.

This "game" is interesting. Not saying it needs guidelines but it might.

Here's the scoop for those who haven't tested Meliva's game yet.

- She has 4 Howker Tails protecting the "King". A now Level 7 Ship of the Line
- She has over 30 million in her purse
- We know that the SOTL has levi protection, but do any of the Howkers?
- She has a 10% sink chance.

Running the numbers do perform a solo raid, which why would you do anything other for the KING OF THE HILL title..
One would need to cast roughly
70 Booty Masters
40 Levi's
8 Ambush

This is only a rough estimate barring one doesn't run into any guild help or any of the Howker tails have Levi Protection.

So using current voodoo pricing, one would need to spend about 872 credits for a level 7 SOTL and the title of "KING OF THE HILL"

Now, I am not one to back down from a challenge but there has to be a little more MEAT ON THE BONE to wet this whistle. Even if Mel put a Man of War at the front of that fleet, I still might not attempt this game.

Mel, this is a great concept in my opinion. I think it needs to be refined a bit (maybe with ADMIN's help). Perhaps a single ship could be created for the game named "KING" and this one ship has special powers. I don't know what, but something that is worth my hard earned voodoo.
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

yeah, I admit the king is well protected. Though you are mistaken in my purse size-it isn't 30M it's just 3M. Granted I could make my purse that size-Got plenty of gold in the bank.

I considered making a rule that I will not replace any sunken tails, or maybe I won't relevel them or other handicaps to make things easier, could go and do that if enough folks want, though whether or not anyone else will do the same is another matter entirely.

Like the idea of a special ship named the King, maybe after this first event is over I can talk to him about it. Honestly I consider this a sort of trial run, I intend to do this event again in the future, and use this first one as a learning experience. See whether the community want to get involved, see any ideas they may have etc. So if anyone else has any suggestions feel free to post them.

Maybe there can be an achievement too for whoever wins.

Edit- another thing I think folks need to remember, is that while it's true the king is well protected now, I need to hold onto him for roughly a month. So any sort of attacks that weaken me, will make it easier to steal later. Don't think of this as a sprint, but more of a marathon. I still got 22 days before I win. I've already stopped all my fleets to make HN's useless-but this means I no longer generate income. So now I need to weather the siege for the next 22 days.

That's just a side job :D. Even I had some fleets fishing and trading.

Edit- nearly forgot, time for the daily update on the King.

So, this day was largely uneventful-no real attacks, though quite a bit of spy networks and other recon voodoo. Makes me a tad nervous for what might be coming, but I intend to hold onto the king for as long as possible :D

The concept of a "marathon" to steal ships is not very good, I think. Maybe without guild support it could be meaningful, but even then, I doubt it. After an attack, it's easy to refill your purse and fix all ships. So apart from any voodoo used in the process by Mel and her guild (mainly clearing voodoo and maybe a generosity or two), the situation would be the same after an attack as before. Stealing ships is a "sprint". It's one event.

Stealing ships is something you do against people with a... "suitable" set up. Not against someone actively protecting against that, and nothing else :)

Fair points. The way I was thinking of it was that folks could just continually hit me with FoJ and other voodoo to drain gold and waste clearing voodoo-After all, I don't have unlimited funds, nor do me or my guild have unlimited clearing voodoo. Sooner or later, it will get to the point that I can't hold onto the king due to lack of gold and clearing voodoo. Of course, it would take a while to get to that point, a month might not be enough time. Depends how heavy I get hit.

You can still take the king with a sprint too-you'd just need a lot of levis, ambushes and a disfavor.

Still, this is a pretty good learning experience so far. Should be able to make things a lot more fun and interesting next time I do this.

On a side note, if I manage to hold onto the king til I win, I'll probably use him to start a new shipwreck hunt contest like the one I did a while back :D

The key card in a "sprint" would probably be booty masters, as Shadowood already noted.

Sure, draining a guild of clearing voodoo is possible. But expensive and time consuming. And more voodoo can be bought. And I'd definitely not hit Mel with voodoo to do so, but rather an active trader in your guild. Less cost, and some income in addition.

No no...

You pay someone in Melivas guild to get Meliva to cast 5 Advanced Piracy on them; then telll that person to cast Vengence of the Witch Doctor then you attack her fleet each hit... Much cheaper! Turn wise would be your limit.

Ultimate betrayal!

I am taking offers?
