Kaipur serves some sandwiches and rum to the group in the corner. A large group of rowdy looking men come into the tavern. They all order rum and start drinking heavily cheering loudly, laughing and constantly shouting for refills. They are quite annoying but they are paying so Kaipur doesn't really care.
Anyway you 2 should be careful. A lot of theives and thugs are out there looking for anyone drunk enough to jump and rob or pick pocket. I recommend you don't drink too heavily or you may end up like that chap over there.

Kaipur nods to a passed out drunk out the window getting robbed by an a couple of young kids.

A cloaked man walks into the tavern, and places some coins on the counter
Some rum and food
God is dead. Long live the machine.

Kaipur hands him some rum and a sandwich.

Jeez, hadn't had this much business since before the festival started.

Kaipur sighs.

Well good luck is almost always followed by bad. Something tells me things are going to get problematic sooner or later knowing my luck.

Drinks some whiskey

I don't believe in luck. Everything that happens, happens for a reason and whether it is good or bad is all a matter of perspective. What may be bad for you, might be good for someone else. Take for example the drunk outside. He may take his bad situation of being robbed and use it to turn his life around and not get drunk anymore. He took a bad situation and made it into something good for him, but at the same time you now lost a customer and money in your pocket. All perspective.

Takes another drink and another sandwich.

Kaipur laughs a little.

You make some good points. Though I wouldn't bet on that drunkard learning his lesson. Hes been drinking at this pub for nearly 30 years. Hell this is the 3rd time this week hes been passed out drunk in that same spot, and I'm fairly certain those are the same kids who robbed him the last 2 times. Yet because he lucked out and his father was quite wealthy he can keep drinking his life away and never have to work a day in his life. You may not believe in luck, but I certainly do. Karma is another big factor in luck in my opinion. But that's a topic for another day.

Looks over at Jack

Awful quiet for someone of your nature. I'm surprised you haven't blown up half the town, or raided the storehouse yet. Opportune time since the town is pissing away its sobriety.

Looks at the cloaked man

Well? What's your story? Not interested in the party or you going to join Jack here and drown out your misery in silence.

Kaipur looks to John

Keyword there being town. The governor is a very old and fairly smart man. He would never permit his guards to party and get drunk with so many visitors to the port. Well not while on duty that is. But when on duty if any guard is caught slacking or drinking the punishment is very severe. They get put into the stocks for passerby's to throw rocks and fruit at them. Along with any other people caught breaking any laws. Minor laws that is.

Finishes the second sandwich, and takes another swig of whiskey

He is still alive? I thought the shock of his only daughter having the ****** child of the pirate that killed his eldest son would have done him in.

Stupid filter.  B_A_S_TARD Child is a term meaning a child born out of wedlock.
