I agree that there are too few tools to do "political battle" within the nations - it is far from a mature feature within the game. However, it is equal on both sides - thus the invader is attempting to create a political take over, while the current political power struggles to maintain control.

As for waiting 30 days to go upon noble missions, I don't know - that is what creates interest and intrigue, investment and planning to do - and governments have known to lose power in a matter of hours due to a well planned take over.

With these conflicts arising, it is time to address what features would aid in this - some new laws would be the tool to utilize, that can create protection and guides for the citizenry. Here are just a couple of ideas, for what they are worth:

- council can vote to deny trade bonuses to individuals, all or partial for a period of days.
- ship building bonuses chartered or denied.
- bank operation charters issued to operate a bank. (Big one if you have a bank and plan a takeover - your bank cannot operate until it is chartered by the national council.)
- deny voting rights of a council member (including the king) based on 2 to 1 vote for a period of 7 days.
- tax pardons for individuals that will remove their debt from the rolls.
- disbursements with strings attached - i.e., only disbursed once vote carries and influence is above [said number].

It is also not out of the question for members of council to sell their vote - not an original idea, as history will show.

The academy is going to also add a feature that will affect influence as well -

Bottom line - there is alot of area for growth and expansion in the nation feature yet to come, and I believe laws are the first tools of governing the nations.

Suggest some new laws for devs to make available!

There are a raft of 'approved' new laws still awaiting implementation already : I certainly made some suggestions when defending Mexico's interests earlier this year : my pleas were dismissed as seemingly unnecessary and perhaps not considered urgent as we won that argument : so, working within the current nation framework, I now am playing the other side of that coin, using the lessons learnt from experience: it would be ironic if new nation defences were suddenly moved up the agenda now.

That said, there are more tactics available to the astute invader than just an influence war or struggle for total control of the council and/or throne. In the end, its will, tenacity and plain stubbornness which are the deciding factor : who can survive within the environment created by the conflict the longest : its about who breaks first and decides the costs of continuation outweigh the costs of settlement and, in the way of asymmetric warfare, the side with least to lose or defend tends to have the advantage.

These seem interessting, my idea was what came across my mind at first sight. Laws would be easiest way of defending the nation like I said and that's the part which devs should start changes when they decide to improve nation aspect of the game.

About my 30 days it doesn't need to be that long it can be 15 days or even 7 days. I know that some goverments lost power in a matter of hours but if we take a look in history I doubt that in the past someone who was noble in some other country would come and invest in few things and would be considered noble of the country in which he moved in. He would be considered a noble from other country or something like that.
But with this law which I recommended here it would give some ammount of time for curnent goverment to prepare. But still well planned take over wouldn't suffer at all and it would add some strategy in the game.

This is the true character of Pirates Glory - the game does not make the players; it is the players that make the game.

I do not think a waiting time before promotions is the way to go. However, I DO think it's too easy to swap nationality. I think that in order to get a nationality, one should have a "waiting time" since one gave up the last nationality, during which one has to be a pirate. I'd say at least 7 days. And one should have to have a very low hostility towards the nation one wants to join.

Game does need new laws for nations.
Like this anyone who joins a nation must be loyal to that nation 30 days before they can access parliament or treasury funds and vote powers from the day they joined said nation

i don't really like the idea of a waiting time, as that can detract from normal people's play that aren't trying to steal a treasury.

perhaps a feature could be implemented where there has to be a vote for someone to reach duke or higher. it would act as a form of protection in terms of voting power so someone can't just swoop in and all of a sudden be one of the higher ranks - the existing members of the nation would need to approve him/her before they get any true power

I think the option of voting people out is far worse than a waiting time. That would make it impossible to become king in a nation with many cooperating players. The distinctions between nations and guilds should be clear, in my opinion. A nation should NOT be a guild.

But there needs to be SOME form of restriction. I think how this is done will be important for how this game can grow and improve. I see many possible paths this game can take, and have several ideas for things like war (DECLARED wars) and blockades, but such things depend upon how the issue of changing nationality is handled.

you can already vote people out haron, it is called deportation. what i am talking about is voting to allow someone to continue rising in rank of duke and above. not for each rank, but rather just once to allow them duke, governor, and king statuses

if you think about it, at this time, dukes weren't just self-made, the already existing nobility allowed them to rise in rank
