Jack steps off, Fr. Michael merely sits in the boat, hoping that he is let off.

The 3 individuals who meet Jack step forward. One is a human woman, with wings and robes, another is a merman with many shark teeth jewelry and the third is a Netar woman, with a staff and robes. The woman steps forward, bows respectfully to Vune and nods to Jack

Welcome back Lady Evangeline, and we welcome your friends. They may come ashore if they wish, but all must be under watch from one of the guards. We trust you, but can not say the same for your company.

I am known as Lady Terra, leader of the humans, the Netar is Kaipura, and the merman Shakir. To what do we owe the pleasure of your visit?

Jack takes off his hat.

M'lady, we are here in these waters to map them, to make scientific discoveries, to befriend the natives, and to if possible, envangelize, non-violently of course

The woman looks at him and asks

What religion are you bringing? We already have so many different ones, Lady Evangeline's sister introduced us to a lot of them. Oh that reminds me, where is Lady Emilia?

This question makes Vune visibly shake, and for the first time Jack thinks he can hear her crying behind her mask as she replies

Dead. I rather not speak further of it.

The lady bows and apologizes profusely as she turns back to Jack waiting for a response.

Jack's face turns grave

We are here to preach to the people about the universal Catholic church, which invites all who wish to to join her ranks. We have no intentions of committing any violence, nor are we here to force it, we are only here to preach

The woman thinks for a moment, before speaking

I think we have some books of Catholicism-had a church too, but ultimately the majority of us didn't take to it-most converted to one of the other religions brought here. We still have buddhist and Hindiuist temples and services. Not to mention the Netar and Merfolk temple. But if you wish to station a man to run the old catholic church, we may be willing to allow that. But the man would need to become a citizen, learn the laws, etc. This would take roughly a month at minimum. We don't like outsiders really. They tend to cause problems. Which is why we are eternally grateful to the Helvune family for providing us these massive walls and forts, countless guns, and a myriad of other defenses. The dag never even try to raid us since then. Not to mention we love the gift of flight some were given.

We have a man, he may preach in the streets of course? To try to peacefully gain followers?

The three leaders all shake their heads no as the woman speaks

No, preaching on the streets is not welcome here. As I said-we have many laws, and one of them forbids preaching on the streets-we find it distracts people from their jobs and duties, and therefore all preaching must be done in the religions assigned church, on a designated day. Not to mention that one must have a permit to teach religion here, so as not to spread misinformation on the religion they are preaching.

Vune says to Jack

Yeah I may have forgot, this place is pretty strict. Tons of rules and laws, and permits and all sorts of paperwork.

3 men are carrying an insanely large book and set it down near Jack. It reads Plun Laws, Regulations and Permits-the condensed version. The book is the size of a grown man, and is easily the largest damn book Jack has ever seen. Brian looks at it in awe and then to the woman and says in a shocked voice

THIS is the condensed version?

The woman nods as Vune chuckles

Yes, its about one tenth of the main book. As I said it takes roughly a month minimum for one to read up on all our laws and regulations, and until the priest has done so, he is not allowed to preach in our lands. Also, Lady Elizabeth we recently passed a law forbidding wearing masks aside from on special occasions. We require you to remove yours.

Vune grunts and just takes it off. It's rather shocking, as she seems to have horns, 3 eyes, and large fangs. She pockets her mask and grumbles

Go ahead and get the stares out the way now, Ragnild knows im used to them when i go out without a mask.

The natives simply shrug and gesture to the book as they go about their business a few guards staying behind.

jack nods

Our priest will learn these, but I daresay he'll read it quicker than one month. May we send a boat over to get him? He's not the one in the vessel behind me.

Fr. Michael steps on shore. Jack says:

Or rather, he's not the man behind me

The 3 agree, and give them a small dinghy to retrieve him. They point to a smaller opening near the grand gate.

The smaller gate is for smaller ships. You can use that. And make sure the priest actually reads every law and regulation. We give incredibly hard tests to make sure one doesn't simply say they read it. Punishment for lying is a beating in our lands. We speak truths here.

The man can stay in the hovel we have for guests while he studies, of course he will be supervised by a pair of guards.

Is there anything else you wish to know of or do here? Do you need supplies or information? We can trade if you do.
