Carl just blinks

Pretty sure the Spanish ports are going to be saying no to that order unless they are offered IMMENSE compensations. Partly due to the massive loss of profits, the issue of taking all the slaves back to their homelands, and the fact that they would be removing quite a few of their workers. Not to mention the fact that you literally sacked 2 of their ports, killed countless guards and did massive damage, and since they know Conner associates with you, they would most likely tell him to pike off and demand you pay for the damages you caused before they would even consider releasing their slaves.

It is highly unlikely those men will be freed, or at the very least it is highly unlikely those men will be freed without great cost.

Carl shakes his head

So if he ain't famous, why would the Spanish listen to some no-name priest about freeing their slaves? And if he ain't famous why would the pope back HIM instead of another more recognized priest or cardinal. And for the most part the catholic church tends to ignore slavery. They have for literal centuries. The occasional pope or speaker might talk about it, but never goes beyond that. And do you have any bloody idea how dangerous it could be to allow the slaves to integrate into the society? When you press a man down for so long standing on his neck, until you finally let him up, odds are that man isn't going to be on friendly terms with their oppressor-there WILL be tension and bitter feelings between both sides-and that will most certainly lead to conflict. Never mind the fact that many of the slaves probably had families back home. How would you react if I kidnapped you, took you halfway across the world and told you to just live there and forget about your wife and son and that you'd NEVER see them again? You'd want to strangle me wouldn't you? Any man would if you did that to him.

And Jack believe me-Conner has been almost literally your right hand man in many affairs, plenty of people have seen you 2 together, and it would be a piece of cake for even a 3rd rate spy to figure out you 2 are close.

okay I'm calling bullshit now your clearly just pulling crap out of your arse at this bloody point and it's getting ridiculous. Do you really think that a person of that high a rank can literally be completely unknown? And how will he give the order if almost no one knows who he is? How would they know it's from the actual high inquisitor if NOONE knows who that is? And why the bloody hell didn't he do this IN THE BEGINNING if he had that power? He LITERALLY let Jack sack TWO ports, and was willing to let him sack more to free slaves that HE could have freed himself apparently. What kind of damn priest would let a pirate kill countless guards when he could have avoided it so easily apparently? IT seems like every other day this damn priest get's more and more ridiculous. AT this point why don't you just say he's actually god in human form with all the crap he can apparently do? From summoning literal angels to fighting ghosts bare handed to banishing demons with a word, now he's also a super high ranking priest that no one knows about? If this Rp was a 5 and it was everything goes that would be fine I suppose, but this is a 3-slight exaggerations and minimal to moderate magic. Having a man who can excommunicate entire ports and is completely unknown is completely unrealistic.

So your saying that Michael, a literal priest is FINE with Jack going to ports, MURDERING countless guards, for profit? Do you not realize how bad that makes him sound? That he is willing to LITERALLY let people die so Jack can get gold? Allowing crap like that to happen when he can stop it would get HIM excommunicated for being a horrible person and allowing who knows how many to die when it could have been avoided. Why would the pope entrust a man who is apparently fine with pirates murdering people for profit with such power as to literally excommunicate entire ports?

And what do you mean he might not have had it until later? What kind of person with such a power and responsibility would be careless enough to not keep such a vital item on hand? Look at the presidential football for example. And hell he had plenty of time to do something about it for ages, why does he now all of a sudden out of nowhere have this ability to do so?

Also it is horribly hypocritical that Jack says that slavery is such a horrific barbaric evil thing, while he casually goes up, kills people and laughs about it. And given that at this point in time slavery is legal more or less everywhere and not seen as a moral evil by most people, the majority of people would have no care for liberating slaves, neither the governments nor the catholic church.

Also when it comes to magic I already restrain it quite a bit. I occasionally throw it in to complicate things, or to solve some things or to add a bit of wonder, but I rarely use it to just solve entire problems or to cause incredible damage, unlike the priest who has repeatedly single handedly solved problems effortlessly. Even the mages suffer from exhaustion and weakness and have had losses in the story unlike the priest who quite honestly might as well be a demigod at this point.

And even if for some reason the pope gave a man like Michael who apparently doesn't mind guards being slaughtered if Jack gets some coin that kind of power, a very large resistance would form against such an outrageous demand. This is literally forcing them to take a massive loss in profit, after 2 of their ports were sacked and they literally just bought a new batch of slaves. Excommunicating them might honestly just provoke them into sacking Rome and imprisoning the pope like they did back in 1527.

And given that in this world magic exists I would say that moderate magic is more realistic then a man having this power. How would he not be well known if the pope put him in such a high position? Why does he have this position when he literally spends most of his time with a literal mass murderer?

I was rude because I get really tired of you doing stuff like this. It seems like whenever you need some way for you to win you try to pull something out of thin air to justify it and it get's real tiring. It's like dealing with that one kid on the playground who no matter what happens comes up with some reason they still win in any game that is played.
