Why'd you set the port on fire?

Jack comes back after the calculations, grinning like a madman.

Whitebeard laughs

Well, matey. Ye should be a play write. You'd have me crew rolling over laughin' with that. Why'd a pirate raid and pillage a port and set it on fire? YARRGH!

Laughs even harder.

George comes back, having double checked his previous assessment and sets a ledger onto the table with the items and value.

Me and howard don't care for any art or jewels, so we will take our portion in just coin.

Howard nods.

Aye. We be simple folk. You lot can take any art or jewels or jewelry if ye want it.

Jack scowls

Raid and pillage, sure mate. Burn down a couple of large buildings? Sure. But firing at everything in the port, including the bloody orphanage, what's the point? The loot amounts to twenty million.

George nods.

I would honestly like to know, what was there to gain in doing what you did? I can understand burning the harbor-that prevents them from using ships to pursue us, and I can understand fully destroying the fort, but why fire on the port for no reason other then spite? All that does is waste valuable ammunition, and make you a higher priority for hunters. Regardless, how you choose to do your piracy is your business. What's done is done, all that matters now is dividing up the loot and moving on. Honestly, at this point me and Howard are just going to retire. Got enough loot to last us the rest of our days. So if you might be interested in our old Brig Jack, we be willing to sell it-crew will be willing to keep working on it too.

Jack nods

I'm interested. You going to go build a manor somewhere? Find a nice woman?

Howard just smirks.

Me and George both are already married. Probably going to go find a nice plot of land and open a plantation far from the sea. Where we go, well we won't be telling nobody. Don't want old enemies tracking us down. We did our best trying to avoid making enemies, but well, piracy is guaranteed to make a few no matter how hard you try.

Jack looks around uncomfortablely

Well then, how much did you guys make? If we're going to split this evenly then we'll have to figure out what we made in all.

Whitebeard laughs again

Ye should look up what the word pillage means.

Whitebeard takes a drink of his rum and ignores Jack's complaint and turns toward George.

Well George, I don't have to explain me action and it doesn't matter. Deep down you knew that a pirate could do this or worse, and believe me I could have done worse. By working with pirates, you accepted that as a possible outcome. If you didn't, you wouldn't have taken part. So you can all stop feigning outrage and enjoy ye spoils. Otherwise, I suggest that ye turn in your Jolly Roger and become a quiet farmer or merchant captain. It makes no difference to me.

Any other complaints, because I'd like to enjoy me rum and money.
