From the stands Veera smiles mischeviously, takes a second core from out of her robes, and with a bit of magic swaps the 2. The golem get's back up and moves on toward jack before Emily just sighs and blows it up. Veera just frowns.

Spoilsport.

With the fight over Emily goes to meet them back in the waiting room, has them patched up and tosses them their winnings. She looks to a list and says quietly to them.

You know, there is a special match we have planned, for a grand mystery prize. It's going to be a very big and tough fight, and after it's over the arena will be closed for a small break. You 4 can enter it as a team, and if you win, I think you will like the reward. If your interested just let me know, it's scheduled for tomorrow so go celebrate in the tavern, have some drinks and rest. You will need it.

The bar is relatively crowded, though quite a few people congratulate the group on their fights, and the drinks are given to them for free due to how well they did. The bartender nods to them and just chuckles

Gotta admit, you lot were a lot braver then id have been going against that behemoth of a golem and that giant. Real smart too trying to get the giant to take her out. But sweet lord that thing is terrifying. Never thought id see something take a hit from a giant and still be standing.

The bartender simply laughs

Yeah, ain't easy to find a lot of things they got in that arena. Manticores, minotaurs, giants. No damn idea how or where they find them, but they do. I do think that there is a rather large village of giants that live in the nearby mountains, but most don't go there, on account of not wanting to meet a bloody giant. I actually fought a few way back in me younger days. We learned pretty quick best to wear little to no armor-since if you get hit by a giant no armor is gonna save your ass. I once saw a giant knock a man straight into the sky with a single swing-took a solid minute before he landed and made a big puddle on the ground. But just so you know, I heard the big event tomorrow is going to be some sort of free for all, and they plan to use plenty of beasties. I recommend if possible to stock up on any sort of items that might help you.

Brian nods.

I also recommend we pay Emily or some other mage a visit and perhaps buy some potions. Primarily healing ones, but we might end up fighting more golems or other beasts then something like acid would be rather useful. It was absolute torture trying to brute force my way past that golems outer shell. Some sort of acid to melt through things like that would be real useful, and maybe we can get some other items. For now let's first buy our gunpowder and then pay a mage a visit. Sound good Jack? Also out of curiosity, how do you feel about using magic James? I know Jack here is incredibly against it, but if your willing we could probably get you some sort of enchantment on your weapon.

james chuckles

I think you'd be disappointed to find that whatever jack dislikes in magic, I dislike it twofold. For religious reasons and bad, nay, horrible experiences, one of which having a Master who was a mage, I was a slave for a short period. But I'm not against potions to a certain degree provided they don't do things that are unnatural.

Sounds fine.

Emily laughs from nearby, apparently she was drinking in a corner nearby, and looks a slight bit drunk, with Veera and Vune sitting with her.

No offense James, but a potion that heals wounds is honestly very unnatural.

Vune just nods to James

So who exactly was your master? If such a mage did indeed own slaves he was either a poor excuse of a mage, or just a very mean one-or both. The vast majority of mages don't deal with slaves, it is very rare for a mage to own one-not really for moral reasons, but more so for practical ones. Slaves need feeding, housing, sleep and rest and other necessities, so most mages would much prefer golems over them-no need to feed or house them, they don't need sleep and are more or less superior workers in most areas. Some mages also use undead for servants-not as good as golems but still better then normal slaves. So for a mage to have slaves would either imply they lacked the skill and connection to get golems or other magical servants, or they were just a arse and wanted slaves to torture and mess around with. Honestly I could probably name a few who would fit both categories. Like that prick Cameron. Hate that guy.

James takes a sip of rum

He was a captain of a slave-galley, nay, and Admiral of a slave galley fleet. I was captured by some Ottoman Turks in the Mediterranean whilst I was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy, onboard a twenty gun sloop of war. Our ship was overtaken by five pirate galleys in the middle of the night, and we were made slaves immediately. I was sold to a merchant, then to an admiral of Colisuiqa's slave galley fleet. He was a mage alright, he did horrible things to us, melding us together, literally mind you, so that when we rowed we'd be one force. The sailors on his ship were a mixture of strange people who always talked in a monotone voice and some people who were possibly undead. I can't remember his name, but I saw him everyday.
