Jack whispers extremely quietly.

I just don't want them to hear us, they could be up to no good, I heard one of their lieutenants say that he heard a couple men talk about gale, and then the Admiral left, the lieutenant didn't whisper.

As it seems sir, it is you that has a concern with the French. Not myself. The information I have and the manner it is released are done on my terms to ensure my security. I don't allow myself to be trapped in bad situations with people I don't really know.

Additionally, if you were truly seeking to be discrete, you wouldn't have been asking every sailor in the tavern if they knew who Gale was.

I have the information and I will show discretion that is reasonable to my safety and security and as I see it the best location I have is where I sit currently. If you want additional discretion, pay the bartender to clear the counter and tables near us so that no one can overhear our conversation.

The barmaid approaches Johns table

Hello miss, those two lads at the bar - (John points) - Have they said anything more about a man named "Gale"?

The barmaid shakes her head

John thinks for a moment before saying - Alright, 2 pints and a loaf of bread if you please

The barmaid nods and heads back to the bar

Turning to the quartermaster - Did the Admiral set off then?

Aye, and in a right hurry too sir. We were told we'd be stayin here and taking our orders from you.

John removes his bicorne - Well, we are going to have a drink then. Be sure to keep your wits about you though, understand?

Aye aye sir.

Jack nods

Alright. I was only asking those I knew to be pirates, and I don't want the french hearing us as I'd rather not get foreign navies involved, but I'll agree to your terms.

Jack pays the bartender off to have the tables and counters cleared off, Jack buys another ale

Alright, you said you have questions for me, ask away.

What's your story? You are clearly well dressed, but are clearly not a noble.

The man remains straight faced.
Well, I don't need to know what you ate for breakfast, or how many whores you slept with. It doesn't need to be detailed, just a quick rundown of your history.

John watches as the barkeep clears a radius around the two men pushing anyone else nearby towards other tables.

This "Gale" character must be something special. First, the Admiral leaves abruptly, then these two take enough care to widen their berth. Have you ever heard of this name before? - John turns to the quartermaster puzzled.

No sir, not once that i can recall.

Jack laughs and says quietly:

Alright, the first time I went to sea was a midshipman in the Royal Navy I was fourteen years old, my father who was a penniless noble managed to get me in because someone owed him a favor. I excelled at naval seamanship, and I was made a lieutenant at 15. One day however, I was accused of something which to this day I don't know what it was, I was kicked out of the navy, and I was left on shore with some money. I squandered it on drink and women, until an old priest convinced me to go do something. In a shady tavern, I signed on a crew that I had no idea who they were, or what we were doing. It turned to be a pirate crew, crewed only by young men, 17 the oldest, the ship was captained by a young woman by the name of scarlet, she eventually left and I became captain. I was far more successful, I captured many ships on our 12 gun sloop, many much bigger. I bought a brig, and with my little fleet I captured bigger prizes, I bought and captured many ships, using my accumulated wealth. I then began to commit acts of brigandage, I captured nobles at sea and had them ransomed. My fame became great as a pirate and highwaymen, but mostly a pirate. I'm feared by some, glorified by some, but all sailors know my name: Jack Teach.

2 figures enter the tavern, both wearing heavy dark cloaks covering them completely. Very little can be seen of them aside from one being a fairly tall, lithe man and the other an average sized woman. The 2 take a quick look around, sit at a booth near the back and get a few drinks from the barmaid. The 2 begin drinking, but keep themselves covered. The woman slips a note to the barmaid, who reads it, nods and hands it back before whispering to the bartender and leaving the tavern.
