RP improvements.

Postby Meliva » Tue Jan 02, 2018 11:27 pm

After hearing what several other players had issues with the RP's, i decided to make this topic so that everyone can discuss changes and rule suggestions to future RP's to help more people feel welcome to participate and help improve the fun everyone has when Roleplaying.
Just 2 things to keep in mind here.
Be polite and civil-its really not that hard to do.
Don't just complain-give constructive criticism.

I dislike the fact that you use a lot of useless words in your story.

You tried to described a character in the story and did a terrible job at it, who cares if someone have a pocket watch or whatever if it is never gonna get used in the story.

Also, spacing, there is a reason why so many books uses them, after each speech and action. And in between speeches between characters.

I am not writer, or am I someone who reads a lot, but it doesn't take a genius to replicate the things book writers used.

If you really wanna go to the extreme with it, you can even add colours for all the different characters talking.

Some people like to describe little details.

If I wanted to read a wall of text, I would go and read Terms and Conditions of products and such.

If you go back to the RP I started, I provided all the sufficient rules to include spacing. Slowing the pace down comes down to the players posting. When someone posts, read and think through it. Don't just respond, think about it and write. Give details, but don't write a book.

A difference between posting this:

RP EXAMPLE 1 wrote:A man walks into the tavern and orders a drink.

THIS:

RP EXAMPLE 2 wrote:A young man enters the tavern. His brow is dripping with sweat as he looks around the tavern. He walks up to the bartender and says:
I'd like a glass of rum, please. The bartender pours a glass and hands it to the young man and asks him if he is ok. The man nervously responds.
Uhmm..yes, sir. I'm just waiting for a friend. His name is Nelson, you haven't seen him have you?

AND THIS:

RP EXAMPLE 3 wrote:A young man enters the tavern.

Number 3 is beautiful!

This is overkill, but it's even better!

Yes, but details should be relevant to the character. We don't need to know that your character wears pink lace panties and a garter belt underneath his pirate outfit.

Aye, you're right there. But I think people should allowed to describe their outward appearance and clothing as much as they like, as long as it's not excessive.
