So my congratulations to Deznutz team for winning this draft. It is quite an accomplishment!
Perhaps the next Draft could be a game changer! Here is my suggestion:
-The draft will not have free choices. Everyone will have to first register to it.
-Every player that registers, will mention whether or not he wants to be a captain.
-If the registered ones are more than 50, then current selection system will be maintained (9 long term + 1 rookie). If the registered players are fewer, then the teams could be less.
-The registered players will vote to determine the leaders (the number of them, according to their number, max 5)
-Leaders will be able to select only from the registered ones.
-Once the teams assemble and the draft finishes, every team will form a new guild.
These guilds will start a war with each other. At the battlefield, for 4 (?) weeks. Maybe less or more. Even 2 weeks would be enough, with 3 days of preparation for each side. But that's under discussion, right?
At the end of this war, the voting will begin where everyone will be able to vote. The voting period should be long enough so everyone can provide their own insight from the war on which team proved the strongest.
I think this is a fairly good idea - Assuming players not participating would agree to not interfere.
this concept could be applied in various ways. Your suggestion seems to favor general combat.
using this you could do the following team - Theme based competitions
Real quick off the top of my head.
General player strength / combat - what I think you are suggesting
pirate - raid plunder competition
Thief - ship plunder competition
Merchant - cargo movement competition
Developement - suggestion challenge where each team comes up with a development idea
finance - each team starts with x number of gc and sees what team can turn the most profit with it.
port control - someone donates a port temporarily - the teams must must agree to use equal resources to fight over the port.
I also suggest dual guild status if this became a reality.
So you maintain your current guild status, you are basically considered out of the guild, until the event is over.
However when the event is over you leave the event guild and do not have to reapply to your original guild.
Will work better for single player and very small guilds.
However you display the tag of your team guild -
once flying a team guild - you may be restricted to only team guild to team guild actions.
Like you can only cast on or be cast on by other teams or attack or be attacked by other teams.
