I'm not sure I follow.. both the part about it being underpowered, and what exactly you are proposing lol
Perhaps you could explain it to me with different wording?

A leviathan is a giant sea serpent. Like a kraken except it's a serpant. Image This thing can clearly destroy a lvl1 ship if not lvl2. For the sake of good game play anymore would make it overpowered for a game when in reality it would sink up to a lvl5 or more. I really don't see how anything would stand a chance unless it is a lvl10 sol but even that would take heavy damage. I am proposing that the card can still sink a ship if it is lvl one and has a 30-40% chance to sink a ship if it is lvl2 or 3 even. (the lvl3 thing is up to Capt J.). If it fails to sink a ship on the 30-40% roll then the ship then loses one lvl. If it is lvl1 then it has a 100% sink chance as usual.

Ok.. I was confused because sink usually refers to the ingame mechanic, I made the same mistake earlier lol

So you want the levaithan to be able to completely destroy ships regardless of lvls?
I think you will find very few who agree that this card should be made even deadlier, however, I do think the card would more useful and less damaging at the same time if it dealt damage to ships with a %chance of level loss

It is a horrible card just the way it is. I buy them up so they won't be used elsewhere. It will take desperation or fury to make me use it. Advantage is not a good enough reason for me to use this card. No player deserves such an underhanded, indefensible. attack. A level can be lost in battle. That is good enough. If I could hunt and kill Leviathan, I would use all that I have to do so.
Yesterday I gave my all. Today I'll give more. Tomorrow, I'll take back what you took for granted.

That's why they invented torpedoes. There's no fair game in love and war. If a player has not got 5 lv10 Sotl and all the attribute points from master craftsman, he is untouchable, but with a couple of leviathon the odds are changed.

If I was to attack another player ( which I don,t ) I only attack NPC. I would have no worries about using leviathon to give me an advantage.

But that can easily be accomplished without using call leviathan as it is now

Actually leviathan is the only way, a players last ship is protected from loss of levels or the ship itself through combat. The player will still loose gold and fame, but they keep the ship no matter what.

Maybe change the mechanics so that a single beginer ship (howker/Cutter/Sloop) can never be sunk or lose levels and if you have no such ship you get what you started with if you do lose all your ships.

I think the system is good enough when it comes to the ships of beginners but I do think some kind of new player protection is needed.

so, someone please tell me, how in the world this mythical beast of a serpent, fits in anyway with this game which tries to be as historically accurate as possible??? how many ships have you heard of that were sunk by a large serpent, or even attacked by a large serpent, that were not told by a drunken sailor?

basically...the fast that its not historically accurate is a good reason to remove this card, from a game that tries to be accurate, right?

The player with maxed out sotls would most likely have the most leviathans as well. With my proposed change Call Leviathans would deal damage with a %chance of level loss. Leviathans would actually be better for beating fleets in combat, but way less damaging and overpowered.

A player with no ships should not be able to sink an entire fleet of sotls. Combat should be required
