yes, the easiest way to do it is to set up a new trade rout that takes over an hour between each port and then let it sit for a few days. Then you will need to set up trade routs to get the needed resources to your chosen port so that you can build the ship.

I have been doing that for a week, all that happens is I get attacked and lose all the money I gained. Is there anyway to store your money, like in a bank?

That would be because the second port is low on resources from other people using it too much, you will have to find a different port to use.
