I salvaged a ship which had loyal crew active. I noticed this when I tried to sell the ship but was blocked. So I fired the crew, and easy as that I was able to sell off the ship. Now I am looking at info on the loyal crew trait, and it says that the crew can't be fired. Yet I was able to fire them, so could this be a bug?

Wow what a crustacean... this poor crew goes down with the ship and somehow survives at the bottom of the sea, then you just come along and fire them, then sell their beloved vessel off for some quick coin.


My initial guess is that between the time you tried to sell the vessel and when you fired the crew the loyal crew hold expired.

Alternately this could be a mechanic associated with salvage.

I have not actually tried to fire a loyal crew to sell a ship. So perhaps their is a bug in the code.

Not just any coin, a single, extra shiny coin.

"You sold the ship Unnamed for 1 gold coin"

How long after you recovered the ship from the seafloor did you sell it?

Who was the previous owner?

I sold it pretty quickly after recovering it. Maybe 45 mins? All it said was something like "Crew recognized #0 as the crew's rightfully captain"

Yet I was prevented from selling it until I fired all the crew

I might be wrong, but I think #0 is the system, so I don't think loyal crew would be used in that situation.

I suspect that the described issue is related to the fact that the previously stated owner was System (#0), as such the System isn't going to attempt to reclaim the ship. As such, I don't see this as a bug.
