Why do some fleets have a beatable set up but than they're all SOTLs?

Not sure I 100% understand your question. Can you elaborate a bit more on what the issue is?

If they are not lvl 10 then 2 LFs lvl 10 paired with cheaper ships like sloop of wars or just sloops can easily defeat fleet of 5 SotLs on lower levels. Also you need to take in consideration attribute points set up....

Also need to take in consideration that your opponent may have Gunpowder Tech.

Aye, Levels of ships, ATT Points of ships, ATT Stacking of ships and TECH all play a big role.

But don't forget too. The 1d20 die roll during each round of attack. This can be a make or break situation

If you had two identical fleet set ups, same TECH. The winner would be determined by the 1d20 roll.

Don't forget speed. IRCC, Speed determines who fires first.

I'm not be talking about that. I mean when it shows for example 3 sotls in a fleet but when you attack there's 4

Do you have a screenshot of the battle result? That should not be possible.

Its not 4, the ship survived so its fighting the next ship in your fleet.

Dart, I am thinking you are seeing when a SOTL "carries" over to the next round.

If a SOTL wins, but sustains 45% dmg, you will see the same SOTL in the next round. Assuming this is what is happening to you.

Just review your battle report closely and look at who won and lost each round.
