Question please: If a player becomes, say, a captain, then changes nations, will that player lose his rank of captain upon the switch?

thank you, :parrot

He will, and he is forced to start from square one again regarding his nation missions; however, if you are in a minor nation in the game like germany, but want to swap to a larger nation like the UK, always make the swap.

While Gregor is right about losing rank in a nation when changing nation, I would question the advice about "always making the swap" to another nation. While this is likely good advice for new players, once you find your way in Avonmora (especially by having good allies), then you may want to find a nice smaller nation to swear loyalty (at least for a time anyways). The game is for fun, so choose what nation you will most enjoy in the game.

And welcome to Avonmora! :P

I am all about joining larger nations for newbies. They learn diplomacy and port ownership. As well how a council should function. All necessary skills to learn before going for your own.
