Is Trade Galleon better when it has the highest tech?

Trade Galleon. it has the highest cargo space, but the slowest speed. it is good for short routes however. also an academy technology can increase the speed of all galleon type ships and a few other boosts. I believe if you had this tech maxed out, or at least at a sufficient level, Trade Galleons might beat out LMM.

I want to know.

I think Bigtea did the math and LMMs still beat them out. But only slightly. Best thing for them however is fishing.

I second this conclusion. Me, Shaydo and SHM did some math on it and found the LM still marginally beats it on a cargo-per-hour basis even at level 20 tech. There are a few advantages to the TG even if it's a few % less return on investment. Dont underestimate the added durability of any type of galleon at level 20 tech. I dont know what level SHM has reached with Spanish Galleons but I have heard rumors his galleon fleets are a real surprise when skirmished or plundered...

I messed around some with different fleet types : I found the galleon-types to have some useful benefits but also big flaws : the Academy techs address these somewhat : at lvl 20 techs they would become a rather handy beastie indeed : added speed, durability and firepower together with its cargo capacity and lower build costs make it a definite alternate choice to the LMM route..

i did some screwing around with a few things trade galleons would be able to make more on certain routes then lmm's not going to say what but its possible and its all because the time between ports
