I have been named Governor, but my promotion didn't show up. I skipped the rank of duke and went straight to Gov., as I was a marquess and had more influence than the previous governor, Cleopatra.

I didn't specify- check the Global Events page.

mine didnt specify which port i was governor of either, as in the event you get each day. doesn't seem like a big deal since we are in fact governors anyway

not really as governors change each day and it's promotion never shows on global events

You get promoted to a marquess after your last mission, later, you just wait and see if you will become, duke, governor, or a king after the daily update.

Global Events no longer include Governor assignments to save on spam.

When your first promotion is directly to Governor from Marquess, it will not show most probably. This is something we could improve.

Is this the same for King promotions? I'm talking about when player 1 gets king and goes offline until after update and player 2 gets more influence and takes the throne. Player 1 sees that he's not king and builds influence back up before the next update and becomes King but, according to the past rulers tab, he was king on day xxx3 and player 2 was on xxx4 and it never changed to say player 1 again on xxx5
