Other than completing a future quest to post in the forums, I might as well get this answered.

How useful and actually successful are treasure hunts? Are they worth my time/turns to invest? If so, when is the best time to do hunts? As a noob? As a vet? Are there any tips and tricks that I should be aware of to make my life easier? Is there anything else I should be aware of before or after the hunt?

Forgive me for so much (probably redundant) questions, but I'd like to be an expert on this matter and every other one I come across.

While I am not the best to answer this (and hopefully not the only one), I would say that it depends on how you use your turns as to when it is best to complete treasure hunts. It does take considerable amount of turns to be beneficial. I have not engaged in treasure hunting much recently (since banks were made) because there is less gold buried and less gold to dig up. For now, I would say that it is not too beneficial to invest the turns in treasure hunting, unless you are having a large amount of turns that you are not using (at least in the port that I mainly hunted in). I would put them to use elsewhere.

My 2 cents,

Questions are key to learning this game. Never be sorry for asking, as this game requires a lot of thought and strategy.

From my understanding, Treasure Hunting can be profitable if you spend the turns, a lot of turns. You will return more gold coin from NPC Treasure Hunting as to find a players treasure you will need to spend more turns finding it than they spent burying and protecting it, and be in the correct area. The large treasures have 1000s if not 10000s of turns protecting them.

I would recommend finding a good Guild. Guilds can provide a lot more details than what can be said on the forums.

NPC treasure hunting can be very lucrative, however it takes a special touch to reap the benefits without burning through tons of turns. there are few players in the game that specialize in this. Find the treasure hunting stats in the game and you will see who are the most successful at this aspect of the game. try reaching out to one and/or all of these players and see if they are willing to mentor you on the art of treasure hunting!

Can be profitable with expertise. Sometimes you invest 500 turns and you may just get the slight chance of not finding a chest- it all comes down to turns and luck.

Yes...but there is a definite strategy to minimizing player treasure won and maximizing NPC treasure won. Message the major treasure hunters in the game Capt. assassin and maybe one of them will mentor you on the tried and true tips and tricks to successful treasure hunting!

Fame is procured a number of ways eg: meeting governor's daughters . Marrying the most beautiful girl, winning battles at sea and spending gold coin are some of the ways fame is raised.
Having high fame gives no financial or military advantage although, some voodoo can be cast and the caster shall remain hidden if the recipient has similar fame to your own.

Meet every Governor's daughter/son and keep their relationships at 100%. I have 16 of the 21 and I pulled in about 110k fame per day. I've slacked at keeping the relationships up due to needing the turns for other things.
