Ola!

Hello Pirates Gloryers...Gloryians? Gloryi's?
Just joined about a week ago. Love the detail and investment a player has to commit to in order to be successful. I also love the community that's building this game and providing support and feedback. Shout out to [Helm] for taking me in and teaching me, there's still so much to learn, so apologies if I piss anyone off (its most likely not on purpose).
I'm 32/m and live in Boston, Massachusetts USA. I found the game searching for turn based strategy games on the internet that I didn't have to spend hours of time every day to manage (and could easily pop in and out during the day for a few minutes).
I like PG because it feels well thought out or at least intentioned and there are tons of choices to make. I'm not one to read the "pro start" guide and crush it right off the bat. I like the make your own way through trial and error. Makes the game more genuine to me and I end up caring more about it.
I don't know what I prefer yet...solo or alliance...Helm has certainly helped me with veteran advice and starting cash which has helped correct some of the mistakes I've made. Also having someone or a clan to ask questions to is a must for n00bs. As the disclaimer says this is a tough game for beginners and you can easily fail out.
I assume that a larger percentage of the community really cares about the game because you have to really commit to the long term and be patient. I'm sure there are those who buy thousands of credits and play that way too but that's not me. So far my interactions have been great. I think most people are trying to be part of the solution not the problem...but I've only been here a week.
Cheers,
