Ahoy! New here. Brand new. Seriously, just barely in the door.
I found the game while wandering around on my new laptop looking for something to pass the time, because otherwise I was going to have to get up and do work, or chores, or actual adult stuff - and who wants that?! I'm hoping to meet some mates, find a guild that is interested in showing the inexperienced how to navigate these here seas. I'm starting at the port 'o no idea what i'm doing but i've never met a challenge i couldn't conquer.
So if anyone remembers being in my boots, and standing on the docks wondering if they'll find a compass to guide the way - please feel free to shout any directions that pointed you to victory!
I'll gladly take directions from more experienced Captains on how they found their sea legs, discovered their guild, utilized their crews and went from a clueless amateur staring at a screen with no idea which way the wind is blowing to making a name that strikes in heart of Poseidon himself!

Hello and Welcome.
Best Advice that can be given to any newer player is join an established Guild. The TOP 20 on the Guild Rankings are a good start to search through. Read their about pages and find the one fits what you want to do in this game. Keep in mind that you don't have to stay in the guild you first join. You can always change guilds, if the guild does not fit your needs or playing style. Once you get into the guild, ask questions, LOTS of questions.

Great to see such a young sea weed jump straight into the game head first with no flintlock at the belt
Join a established training guild until your dry behind those green ears then find a merchant or pirate guild depending on your play style, An dont try to piss off very established maties
