The fact that OUR PRESIDENT is not willing to condemn racial hate groups is disgusting.
FYI mel, right now protesting is considered rioting I guess, and therefore the police are allowed to use excessive force against them. You say you support protesting peacefully? How come almost every single goddamn time we try to protest we get pepper sprayed, shot with rubber bullets, sprayed with tear gas, and then accused of destroying buildings.
Enough is enough.
Mustache some of these 'protests' are riots and have been riots for a long time. Like in Hong Kong first it was peaceful protesting but then it slowly turned into rioting and then the protesters were like why is the police beating us up now. Just like with the Hong Kong protests I support the Black lives matter too but some of these protesters are just thugs who are there to vandalize and damage property and people. Then because of these thugs the police might see a protester who is not rioting and looting but assume that he or she will do it and try and hurt the police man or women and hurt their colleagues. Then because of this bad things will happen and mistakes are made and you wind up with someone dead which makes more peaceful protesters angry and riot. It's an vicious cycle and neither side seems to be really putting a serious effort to find a peaceful resolution
KIM..Ideally, yes.
I agree that neither side seems to be really putting in a serious effort to find a peaceful resolution.
That may be s because, for some rioters, the cause IS actually irrelevant...
A lot of these are band-wagon protestors who really have no true concern for the cause for which they appear to be standing.
Often their cause is something else entirely. You should be able to see that with all that has been written here.
Their only purpose is to riot.
When one cause is done, you will see them in the front lines of another..Just finding another thing to make a noise about. It's what they do.
Professional protesters.. there are some who are even paid - allegedly.
Peaceful protestors must get annoyed when all those noisy destructive idiots turn up - it doesn't help their cause...but those rioters don't care.
It's not really why they are there. Protest and riot for the purpose of protest and riot..
There are many causes that have had successful outcomes without riot.
The civil rights movement in the 60s.MLK...mostly peaceful - but the catalyst for change came with the violence. To stop the violence.
Violence at rallies can scare away allies. Peaceful protests usually gain a wider support for attendance and ongoing support
"In order for a movement to gain support and inspire lasting change, peace and consensus are essential" says Gordana Rabrenovic, associate professor of sociology and director of the Brudnick Center on Violence and Conflict.
Some people just don't want peace let alone a peaceful resolution to anything.
