Lots of reasons. From competitive pricing, more discretion, avoiding conflict of contracts,... etc. Having a second avenue for contract work provides healthy competition, better pricing for the customer base and reaffirms quality of service in order to stay competitive.
It will allow for offers, discounts, more customer focus, upgrades of services and such.
You may find limited time offers such as half off, but one get one free of similar value or get a regular customer discount.
You may find yourself in a different service tier based on your history with the company as a valued customer.
Seriously, the possibilities are endless
