All good workarounds.

I would favour Shadowoods notion of weather at random periods. Fog, mist, rain would all affect battle and the OP's suggestion for the effects of darkness on aspects of battle would work equally well for weather.

That would get my approval.

Could add this into the "natural disasters" suggestion.

Typhoon, tidal wave, swarm of locusts and such. I thought that was all approved at one point?

I think if we went day/night cycle then the idea proposed by SHM of the rolling 23 hour window works well, it's just out of sync enough that it will gradually fall over all different days of the week.

Would it be simple to add a moving wave of darkness that slowly covered the Map follow by the wave of light. Different ports would also then be out of sync, could take X hours to move across the map.

Not necessarily needing to add any side effects/consequences/bonuses for the changing light level. Just an interesting extra for now?

The problem always left untold and never explained is: "is Avonmora a far part of the Earth, or is it a different planet with its own rules and weather and daylight times etc."?
There's no reason to have a 24 hours cycle (nor close to 24 hours).

Adding day/night Without any effect, wouldn't it be a waste?
The cycle could be even shorter, like 4-5 hours, but with some effect.
Stay tuned on Radio Image Bermuda!
