Ongoing - UI updates

Postby Captain Jack » Tue Nov 13, 2018 5:27 am

Ahoy,

I am opening this topic to gather feedback on ongoing User Interface updates. Yesterday, we had this small icon pack implementation that changed most screens. How do you find this update, one day later?

Very nice for phone usage imo. Not a thin sized link like the text was. Has some bulk with makes it easier to tap.

Yes, mobile was surely in our thoughts and will always be for all new updates. How about the manage fleet screen that has a ton of them squished. Has it worked well for you on mobile there? I have not found time yet to test them myself.

I believe the arrows in the manage fleet screen should be on opposite sides to prevent mistap and throwing the fleet out of order personally. The send ship down the list on the left side, and the send ship up on the right side. Keeping the edit ship name and remove ship in the same chronological order as well.

To shorten this, to make it in this order: v, edit ship name, remove ship, ^

If that makes sense.

I also believe Rename fleet should also have a symbol instead of the text itself. Just for mobile purposes :)

Improving UI - The plan for Headquarters Page

Postby Captain Jack » Mon Dec 17, 2018 4:49 pm

Ahoy,

We are in the process of updating the user interface. After discussing with the community at previous topics, we decided that the best way to process these will be through a gradual improvement of the current interface.

To achieve the best for both current and new players, I will be updating this post with latest design news and upcoming steps. If you have anything in mind that could improve your daily gameplay, please post here.

Here is the current roadmap:

  • Create a Navigator at HQ page for various fleets/ship lists. [Implemented]
  • Court Page Redesign [Implemented]
  • Get Rid of the Right Hand Menu at HQ page [Implemented]
  • Expand the HQ fleets list to become more spacious [Implemented]
  • Create a dashboard at HQ page, right above the fleets/ships list, where players can add/remove links

Couldn't we reduce them to 20? :)

The current user interface is under continuous consideration. The result is that the HQ design will not be changed dramatically after all.

HeadQuarters page, for the time being, will remain as it is with 1 key change:

The right hand menu will be removed completely.

As a result, the lists will become more spacious. Only two of the links that Headquarters has at its current right hand menu will remain and they will be positioned at the left of the current Selector at the top.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In order to make the above possible, we have redesigned the Court page. Hopefully, we will have this up today. The new redesigned court page will give you a glimpse of the new style that we will try to bring with the new interface.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next Steps

I feel that we are not ready for a big change in the interface yet. What probably needs further improvement or even a complete redesign is the left hand menu. We will ponder around it but even if we do change it, it will be more of stylish changes. The links will remain there for now, as they are and they will work as they currently do.

This whole UI update process will take time. We will need to analyze more and also give some time after every update for the players to get adjusted to. During this process, we need your feedback.

How to send your Feedback

The way to send your Feedback is easy. Simply reply here with a new post in the following way:

-When I Hire Officers, I run out of Gold. Getting it from my Bank account is troublesome. Could we add a quick link there?

This is an actual issue we have identified and we will taking care of it. THIS is the kind of feedback we need from you. Don't be shy about it; just mention your issue here and we will try to find a way to make it better for you. If you can even suggest a way, all the better - we will evaluate it and see if we can proceed in this way.

The certain thing is that we will evaluate your feedback and we will try to do what is best for you and the game.
