Btw, we also improved the color of that font text in Skirmish Manual, alongside with more page styling which was needed.

thank you guys for working on this

and for the fast response and attention to this, it tells me that indeed you guys care to make the game app better for us, for the community and that's always good to see, at least on my end, I'd prefer to be part of a community where the admins care

I've sent my request to join the "Players Dev Team " here in-forum as I think I could bring constructive feedback aimed to improve the game-play experience

suggestions

few other things I've noticed that can be transformed into few suggestions, to make it easier for players to navigate:

a. the "Captain's Quarters" page
- we can there hire/fire crew
- we can buy/sell cannons
- but we can't easily hire a new captain for that ship, right from that very page, right away
- we need to do extra steps, to navigate away from that page, just to hire a new captain for that ship, which yes, it's OK, but it will interrupt the train of thought of the player in his/her quest to properly set up that ship, to increase level, to load/unload, to add it to a fleet, etc.
- thus, I'd suggest here, on this page, add an extra link, maybe on the right-hand side menu, that will help us navigate fast to the hire officers page

b. new fleet creation
- if we have already a fleet, but with no ships in it, thus with a fleet admiral already hired and available, that "empty" fleet will not appear in the fleet list
- if we click "create a new fleet" then we get a message stating that we already have an empty fleet and should manage it, and only at that second page, we get a "full list" of fleets and the ones with ships and the ones with no ships in them, and on this second page, we can manage the empty fleet
- thus my suggestion would be to list in the fleet list, all the fleets, including the empty ones, as it can be confusing for a new player, who may know he has an empty fleet, but can't see it in the list - me too I was confused, until I've attempted to "create a new fleet" then I saw my empty one

last issue,

how can I setup and/or upload my in-forum avatar here, for my profile, still it's a mystery to me this...

it's odd not to have an avatar, I'm usually active in online communities and virtual teams, so it's customary to have an avatar, it's nothing unusual, yet, here I can't do that... is it a temporary thing, or do I need to do extra steps on my end..??..

Can you re upload an avatar in-game? If it is successful in-game, it must be successful here. I just tried with success.

So please try again. If it does not work again, please tell me the type of file you tried.

thanks again for taking swift actions about this and making improvements

I can definitely say that it looks better now, as I see it

- the right-hand side menu Fleets, Ships, Cpt. Log, Officers, Hideout on Headquarter page
- and the right side menu, Voodoo, Fleets, Battles, Bounties, Enemylist on the Plunder page
- still has that dark red color for fonts on a black background, so the effect is still relatively hard to read

now, if I may suggest in case you'd like to keep the "blood theme" maybe change it to a bright crimson red, from that dark red, the idea being just to increase the contrast, to make it more comfortable for the eye - what I'm suggesting is in fact from pure ergonomics based on the neuro-response of the brain to the eye signals, this is what makes us, humans feel comfortable or not... i'm not a neuroscientist, but I've studied the field of ergonomics and it's something about this in there someplace... hehe...

also, the same dark red is showing on the profile when displaying the name of the player, the nation and/or guild... and again, at a first glance is not very comfortable... I see if we hover with the mouse the links will become a grayish white, easier to read, but if we don't hover with the mouse, is still dart text over a dark background, thus it doesn't stand out...

so, maybe a brighter, lighter red for the text/links - if keeping the blood color theme - may work better...

on a positive note, about the profile, yes, I've updated my avie in-game and it looks it worked also here in-forum so that works after all and it makes me feel much better about my online private character identity... hehe...

again, thank you for focusing fast of those things, it makes a difference improving the game experience and that's one more reason I plan to stick around and be active as much as time will permit me... hehe...

yep,

in normal circumstances, I wouldn't have bothered either, as you can imagine my time is limited too, same as for many of us around here. and it takes a bit of time away from my little free time to compile and write those feedback messages, the same way it takes you all to read them...

however, in this particular case, I like this game here, mainly because I have a feeling it's relatively complex and not easy to master, as such it's a challenge for the mind, hence I like it... if it would be easy, would be boring to me and I would give up fast...

that being said because I have a feeling I'm gonna like it and as such I'm gonna stick around for a while, then, why not care a bit for the game I like, thus sending constructive feedback to fix some small issues is only a natural step, why not do it, if I can, if I have the ability to see where is room for improvement...

and, from their point of view, the game owners-admins-developers too, how can they fix something, if they are not aware that something needs some attention, and how would they know what needs attention, if we, the users-players don't tell them...

just as a side note, in my little free time I'm also a developer working on a project with my little team and we have the same apparent problems, how can we fix something, if we don't know what needs to be fixed... thus, sending some constructive feedback, altho time-consuming as it is, can help in the end...

that's my ultimate goal after all with all my feedback to help make the game better, for us, for users-players... that's the purpose of this forum, or one of the reasons this forum is operational, to try to make the game better... to share ideas, suggestions, comments and with that feedback...

then lastly I would just add, it's easy for me to write, as this is what I do for a living, every single day, so it's in my DNA... hehe... my only problem is time... too little time and too many things to do... hehe...

Sorry mate, I didn't mean your ideas, I thought I had hit the quote button, I was replying to @astragek struggling to get a Collingwood avatar up, something of an inside Aussie joke.

I read your post with interest, not derision.

I saw that coming with the buttons. We did some tests yesterday and some tests today but nothing pleases us so far.

We slightly changed the color of the big red text.

I can tell you guys are working in the background and it's good to know you're not neglecting this

I still see those "new guild discussions" or "new event" or "new message" links on top with that dark red that is almost unnoticeable, because the contrast is too weak

what I've really found quite frustrating is in the "Active ports list" the same dark red over black, for the prices of products the ports will buy, now at least in my case, this is quite hard to read, in my case, everytime I check a price a port is buying, I have to, in fact, select that price, so it will appear to be highlighted in "blue" like I would get ready to do a copy/paste and this is quite annoying, not being able to easily see at a first glance that table, that sheet...

I'm sure many other users-players are used to it and don't realize it anymore it's quite uncomfortable, especially on this page, while checking prices

then, the same dark red over black is giving me hard time in the player's profile, while checking the id# so I can send a gift or something, a message or something, in my case, once again I select that id# to do a copy/paste when I need it, but my point is that's hard to see, to read, is not obvious, requires extra steps... and I am not blind, I can assure you guys, I am not even wearing reading glasses, and I usually don't have such problems...

like here, in-forum, it's a nice comfy theme color to read, no problems at all... here in-forum, is perfect if you ask me, but in-game is uncomfortable...

now, I like the game and I plan to stick around, I like the fact it's not easy, or that's even quite complex, I like that, so I'll stick around, but in my humble opinion, maybe other new users-players signing in, they lose interest or just give up fast, and for this reason, not being easy to read, but don't take the time to write a feedback about it like I'm doing it...

thus, if you have overall a high rate or abandon, this may be part of the reason as well...

the way I see it so far, the key problem is this dark red over the black... so if I may suggest even on a temporary basis until you find a more permanent solution, try to change this dark red - wherever it appears - to simple white or a bright yellow...

or change the background from black to something lighter, but if the background is harder to change, then maybe changing the color of the fonts may be easier... now, I'm just speculating here, of course, you guys know better how it works...

it's cool buddy, no worries...
I hope you too feel that dark red over black is kind of hard to read, or at least maybe a better option will be soon available...

I have found the red in Active Port List extremely hard to read at times. Unless I have my screen tilted just right on my cheap laptop, its unreadable.
Same goes when I click on someones name to send a msg, cast voodoo or copy their name, the red text is almost unreadable if my screen is not tilted the right way despite it being a fairly large font used.
